Bulk Lake City Arsenal .223 SS109 Ammunition

Shoot the same ammunition that our troops abroad trust their lives to in these bulk-packaged
.223 rounds. Manufactured in the USA by Lake City Arsenal, this overrun of ammunition is not
remanufactured or below-spec rounds. The 62-grain, steel-core M855 Green Tip Penetrator is the same
firepower supplied to our elite units, including the Navy SEALs. Stringent military standards ensure reliable,
consistent performance for your target shooting and varmint hunting. Muzzle velocity: 3,070
feet-per-second. Includes six .50-caliber, military-surplus ammo cans. Per 2,000 rounds.

ETA: It's only $19.95 for shipping!

Yep, my FFL will be selling the green tip for the same price as the M193 starting next week.

I have always wondered why the SS109 was so expensive since you figure that Lake City mostly produces the green tip.

And there's an ammo shortage in Iraq?

I was thinking the same thing.  What I am starting to think is that it was a way to funnel money to the Isrealis.  Most likely they are providing intel and other untangible services.  The ammo storage and the premium paid to the IMI is payment for such services and to keep the buffer against the arabs alive.

What's the date on the headstamp?

Why not have a group buy and ship it over there?

Headstamp is dated '01. Cases are shipped two to a box, bulk packed. Cartridge cases are slitghly tarnished, but I don't believe them to be repacked or anything because they are in original military cases marked "for training use only". No idea why, probably a .mil beurocratic thing.

I picked mine up in person at the Dundee store, but got 3 larger plastic cans rather than the 6 .50cal cans they advertised.

Hey Dave my internet friend, that's not a terribly good price.

...Really?? I've never seen SS109 for less than $230 per 1K rds or so, and it was always S.A., Greek or Sellier & Bellot.
