Well, considering these were to have been presented just before last Christmas-- (
)
Things are almost done and will be (fingers crossed on
Bob Schrap with the sheaths, but he swore he would have then to me by Oct. 1) in time to be presented at
Gunstock. I last updated when the plaques were back from the engraver. As I said, they turned out just beautiful/perfect. Now my father has finished the walnut "frame" and cradle for each knife. He said they turned out very nice--and he's quite modest, so I can't wait to see them. He lives 300 miles from here, and won't ship them, so I have to travel to Wis. to pick them up sometime in the next few weeks. The knives themselves have been at
Bob Schrap's for a month or more, but, as I said, he promised them before October 1st. The only detail which remains, other than that, is to get the
Lansky diamond sharpening sets.
I don't think I posted this, but I showed them to
EdAvilaSr at
Bulletfest and he was VERY pleased with them. He chose the blade size and style and was thrilled
Chuck Hawes was able to capture exactly what he wanted. At least he will have his knife in time for most of this year's deer season.
I'm sorry this has taken so danged long--I had no idea it was such an ordeal to get top quality work done. I assure you the money is safe and all that. This has been time consuming and a general PITA, but the look of satisfaction and pleasure on
Ed Sr.'s face makes it worth it. He was just THRILLED.
