I got to fondle one yesterday.  I want one desperately.  Why don't any US manufacturers make a copy here?  Those things are awesome!

I doubt a US manufacturer would make an AUG. Maybe the Republicans will overturn Bush's '89 import ban, nah, that's not gonna happen either.

I'd get an Aug only if it would have a removable sight system.
I hate that fixed scope on it.

I want a Steyr Aug.

Line starts here.  I'm at the front.  I think we'll have more luck getting a domestic SIG 550 though.

It is but ugly...I agree on that.  I've never shouldered a rifle that felt so right.  It fit me perfectly.  I'm in love.

If that's the case, it's not really an issue for us mere citizens as we wouldn't get to play with the select fire version anyway.  Unless the Brady Bunch was to be believed that is.

But I see where you're coming from.  That part of the AUG has always made me a sceptic of the FA version.

The AUG, if it's anything like my USR (and it is), can easily have the existing site/carry handle removed and replaced with a Picatinny rail (which I've done). The rail is available from 3rd party vendors. My USR has a 3.5-10 X Leupold mildot on it. But, the 1.5 x Swarovsky scope the gun came with is pretty nice.

Oh yes, and above the standard carry-handle scope are rudimentary open sights, if you ever wanted to use them.

One more thing.... the trigger pull on the USR/AUG sucks big time. Hopefully, if the rifle is manufactured in the USA, they can make some modifications in the trigger linkage. They should, since some German outfit had a 30 cal bullpup with a two-stage trigger...

That is how I fel first time I touched a AUG. It took me two years of saving until I bought one. The rumor is that DSA will make a US AUG. I will buy a DSA AUG in a second. Also ShotgunNews said that FN will make a semi auto P90!! Maybe a FN P2000! And I will also be saving up for a SIG550.

The AUG and P90 should not be too spendy but I think the SIG 550 will go for $2800 to $3800. All I know is that come 9/14/2004 I will be very broke.

The rumor is that DSA is negotiating with Steyr for the rights to produce them here.

The death of the AWB seems to be figuring heavily in these negotiations.

In other words.... cross your fingers AND make sure your Congress Critters know to vote NO on any extension or re-auth of the AWB.

I read (on here) that DSA was pretty much for sure going to make an AUG after the ban ends.

ETA: Buckaroo beat me to it. I post slow (at work).

While I think this would be very cool, what would be the point of  P90 or P2000 with a 16" barrel?

Wait a tick, how long is the standard barrel on the P2000?

ETA: Think I found the info on world.guns.ru

P90 barrel length 10.3 inches
P2000 barrel length 15.7 inches (that should be easy to add a bit and still look ok.

A forward ejecting bullpup would be welcome to me....granted that I get out of CA.

That is actually my favorite part of a Stg77.

You have to shoot one to appreciate it.

The method of select fire is awesome (IMHO).  No fumbling with external switches. Just trigger control.....  pull to the first click, it's semi - pull to the second and it's full-auto.

Seems like that's a great way to do it.

If you keep fondling guys youre going to get ass kicked as mentioned before!

You'll get a date with Rachel Ray before you get a domestic AUG.

I can do it as well, I just use the brass catcher. The trigger on mine is damn good for being plastic, heavy but crisp and little take up.

I love the looks of it and it just feels right. For SHTF the AR would be my 1st coice with the AUG #2

If i could get an AUG, which I cannot in CT unless it is renamed, I wouldn't get it for a main rifle, but just cuz it was neat. Nothing more, just a piece in the collection. Shove it up your ass, Fineswine, it's part of my COLLECTION.
