Hit Borders after work today to pick up some reading material for the bathroom library.  The girl at the register kept giving me funny looks as she scanned each item, although I'm not sure why.
This is what I bought

The Horse (underground biker mag0
Iron Works (another biker mag)
Architectural Review

Anthem by Ayn Rand
For Whom the Bell Tolls by Hemmingway
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Basket Case by Carl Hiaasen

I shoulda picked up a rap album while I was at it but I forgot they had CDs upstairs.

I notice that you made proper use of italics and underlining there. Very impressive. Very un-arfcommer-like.

murdered people.
I just said no.

Right then and there I would have asked for a manager and gotten that asshat fired.

What's he gonna ask some guy buying a sex book...?  "What's wrong, no good in bed?"

What's he gonna ask a woman buying a book about relationship issues?  "What's the deal, can't keep a guy around?"

Any asshat that comments on my choice of reading material shouldn't be working in a bookstore.

Is that right?  I've always thought that both served the same function, that italics are preferable if available, and that mixing the two in one piece of writing is bad form.

What did you think of the fake UFO art article?

I didn't find it incredibly interesting, to be honest.  I mean, I don't disagree with their conclusions, but I'd never heard of the whole business about UFO nuts saying UFOs were around in medieval paintings, so it didn't have much cache with me.

And this my friends is the sole reason I try my best NOT to buy subscriptions.

I absolutely believe in buying my gun mags at the local stores so that I have to walk up to the cashier and present it personally.  The best times are when all of the soccer moms are in buying groceries and ahead of them at the checkout is me with all of my gun mags, face up, on the conveyor.

Large chain bookstores come in for extra attention as they mostly carry mags that the local supermarkets do not, in that case I make a point of driving a reasonable distance to make them squirm behind the counter.

Someone at my local supermarket likes to place other magazines over the firearm related issues, I look like an employee as I tidy the place up.  Call me crazy as it is an almost daily occurrence for me, but it surely must piss off the anti that is trying to censor the rest of us and that is my point...

Basket Case by Carl Hiaasen

I have read all of Hiaasen's books and have really enjoyed them.  I was walking though an airport last week and in a book store I saw that he has another book out, which is still only in hard cover.  I will buy it soon.

I stopped in at Hastings to get a couple books the other day.
I had to go to the College town 20 miles from my hometown because no one in my hometown has/had "Unfit for Command".

I stopped in and found it but decided to check out some others.

Unfit for Command by John E. O'Neill and Jerome R. Corsi, Ph. D.
The Battle of Mogadishu by Matt Eversmann and Mark Bowden
The Name by Franklin Graham
Steady On by Point of Grace
The Price of Freedom by Michael W. Smith
Pilates for Every Body by Denise Austin

I walk past a couple elderly guys talking and one was saying "I was over there looking at that new Molly Ivins book but I'm getting tired of all the political talk so I decided against it."

I said "Your IQ drops 10 points everytime you read drivel like that!"
Then I said "Did you see that new book Al Frankens book about Democrats? It is titled 'Lies and the lying liars that tell them!'"
