After the Iraq photo "is it fake" thread, I would say the Aimpoint is the one with the hide the dot feature 2 eyes open method...

I own the Aimpoint and an ACOG, but passed on an ELCAN, so I will speak about the sights I have and tell about certain elements I found while researching the ELCAN. There are those here that own ELCANs and can give you a better review.
Aimpoint - Battery operated, no magnification, no parallax issues, can use both eyes pretty easily. ACOG - Tritium operated (no battery), 4x maginification, built like a tank, can use both eyes with proper training. ELCAN - magnification with a caliber specific 'bullet drop compensator'. I love my ACOG and would not trade it. The Aimpoint is on my 'backup' rifle, the AR10. |

ACOG.
I don't like the external adjustments (on the mount) the ELCAN uses to adjust windage and elevation. |

ELCAN has excellent glass; but on all other counts I prefer the ACOGs.

have an Aimpoint on my M4 and love it but was considering a 4 power scope as well,

I had an Elcan and miss it. Their glass is much better than that of an ACOG. The generation 4 mount is a must. The 3rd generation mount sucks.
I've had a couple of ACOGs. I'm done with Trijicon. Their price does not equal their quality in my book. Right now it's just Aimpoints and Leupolds on my rifles. |
