Alleged Terrorist Arrested After Videotaping Bay Bridge

(Baltimore, MD) -- An Annandale man described as a high-ranking Hamas operative was taken into custody Friday after local police spotted him videotaping Maryland's Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Officials say off-duty Baltimore County officers witnessed a family of four, apparently of Middle Eastern descent, using the camera from an SUV. They reported it to Maryland Transportation Police who stopped the vehicle and confiscated the equipment. Authorities say Ismael Elbarasse, who was wanted as a material witness in a terrorism case in Chicago, was also on an FBI terrorist watch list. The state attorney's office in Maryland says Elbarasse is only being held on the material witness charge, with a detention hearing set for Friday.
