George P. Bush accepts criticism of some U.S. policy during Mexico campaign trip

U.S. President George W. Bush's Hispanic nephew, George P. Bush Saturday, accepted criticism of some U.S. policies during a campaign trip to Mexico, calling the arming of Border Patrol agents with plastic pellet guns "reprehensible."

The younger Bush, son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, told a news conference Saturday that his uncle, if re-elected, would turn the focus of foreign policy "back to this hemisphere."

"If there has been American approval for this policy, that is reprehensible," Bush said of the guns, essentially paintball projectiles filled with chile powder. "It's kind of barbarous."

Speaking in sometimes halting Spanish mixed with English, he said his uncle was not blame for the gun policy, which has angered Mexicans; instead, he blamed it on "some local INS (Immigration) guy who's trying to be tough, act macho."

The use of the guns is in fact federal policy, and they are in use in several states.

George P. Bush, whose mother was born in Mexico, came here to drum up support among Americans abroad for his uncle...

I don't know.  I'm not that intimidated by millions and millions of people who came here to get a job, make a living for their family, have a future.  Yeah, so they don't pay income or social security taxes.  They do pay sales taxes on everything they buy in a store.

Most American citizens who make under what, $15,000??? don't pay enough in Federal or State taxes to make a difference.

I do understand that these folks who come across are breaking federal laws in doing so.  But, where is the intent when it comes to a 5 year old kid being dragged along, or an infant still in the womb?

The focus needs to shift, in my, lowly, one person, opinion, from these hard workers on whom our economic system is built to the real criminals that come here.  Everything from drug smugglers, the "coyotes" that will pack 100+ illegal immigrants into a trailer left to die, to whoever the fuck is dropping these ARABIC language pamphlets.

People here don't understand that in Mexico, they need job creation of 1,000,000 new jobs a year just to keep up with the population growth.  It's not an excuse, I know.

But when you have the shining light of the American Way the only star in the sky, people are going to come to it.

The truth, my friends, is out there.

I say that we start a Fire Team and get some helocopters (UH1H Super Gazel Bell Jetranger MD500) put M60's/M240's/RPK's/20mm AT rifles/Miniguns/any thing with a drum and fly around the border and shoot up the Mexican army guys and wall jumpers the helocopters will need to be up-armored to stop .50 cal over most of the choper and 30mm for the crew and moter if posable make RPG-like weapons and fire them from makeshift pilons as well as home made willy peat /smoke granades and 10lb bombs

Sales tax doesnt cover the congested freeways, hospital ER rooms, and schools. They drive without insurance or licenses, crowding the freeways and inflating all of our auto insurance rates.

We are a nation of laws, and breaking several to get here is a bad start.

You took my words out of context.  You are correct, however, plenty of good ole American trash does the same thing.  And for that matter so do wealthy hard working ones too.  Why should I have to pay higher premiums so someone else can get a multi-policy, home owner discount on their $65,000 cadillac SUV?  And remember, wealthy folks probably (i have no facts to back this up) commit insurance fraud as often as non-wealthy folks.

I was talking to an INS agent at a class once and he told me that despite the Border Patrol having one of the toughest firearms qualification courses in the federal government, they also had the lowest hit/per shot fired ratio in all of LE.  The reason:  People are not willing to kill somebody for throwing rocks at them – but they are willing to shoot at the ground near them.  

Think about it:  Someone throws a rock at you.  Do you shoot them while it’s still in the air, or do you look to move somewhere where the rock isn’t going to hit?  After that, if that person’s empty handed, should you still shoot?  Where’s the Ability?

Speaking for myself, if all I had to do to avoid shooting another human being who was throwing rocks at me was to step backwards a few yards and get out of their accurate range – I’d gladly do it.

On the other hand, if equipped with a decent, reliable, and accurate pepper paintball gun – I’d gleefully plant round after round on those same people 100% guilt free.
