Democratic implies that you vote directly on issues. Some states have this in the form of ammendments and referendums.
A republic elects people to represent them. We have gradually become more democratic. |

We live in a Democratic Republic.
In other words, we the people don't directly vote, we vote in someone who shares our beliefs and THEY vote on the issues. A true democratcy cannot exist with the amount of people we have in our soceity. |

That term was adopted when DemocRATS decided they needed it to make the stupid (their main constituency) vote for THEM as a means of promoting "Democracy" and "freedom." Just one brick in the wall of deception and lies.

i belive it it generally accepted that the US came into existance with the adoption of the 14th amendment (never properly ratified as it is). when the US incorperated, a trend tword democracy began, where prior to that were a constitutional republic.
are you arware that there are two different constitutions? |

Democracy = rule of man You can vote on anything including voting your rights away. 51% rule.
Republic = rule of law A representative government under a Constitution. The majority rules with minority rights . No 51% rule. |

I hope is Polio riddled body is burning in hell right now. He is a major part of the downward spiral in the USA. I want to vomit when I see how is is worshiped for his "New Deal". All FDR did was stole the gold, got folks hooked on social programs, and took away peoples land and rights. I wish he could see where the hell he sent the US too, but he would probably like the "New New Deal".

yeah,
FDR wasn't too fond of the 1st Amendmant either. (can anybody say "incarceration for mental evaluation"?) We used to be a true Republic. Now we are somewhere between being a Republic and a Socialist Democracy. Alot of it is just word play. One of the biggest things that changed that was the Amendmant to the constitution that changed us from State legislature selection of senators to direct election of senators. |

There is NO SUCH THING as a Representative Democracy. However, if you want to play semantics, what you are saying can be described better as a Republic. I posted about this a month or so back. Kids SniperWolfe's age are being taught that a Republic is a type of democracy, and that Representative Democracy (note the qualification of Democracy) is a Republic. When I went to school, Republic and Democracy were two VERY different animals. Republic was superior because it was good for a small number of people to a large number of people, whereass a Democracy turns into mob rule beyond a certain small size. [RLeeEarmey]I think we been cheated![/RLE] I don't think there is a thinking person alive who can contest that the definitions of Republic and Democracy have been fundamentally altered. They never were the same until recently. The question is, how many people have noticed? |

Democracy=Mob Rule. think about it If 51% want you to pee sitting down, its the law. Extend the idea ad infinitum. You see where we are headed? Or are we already there? At least in a representative republic the representatives have to fear reprisals if they stray too far either way. |
