The ban prohibits the manufacture, sale or possession of semi-automatic rifles, shotguns or pistols designed to maim and kill with a spray of bullets. But Physicians for Social Responsibility says the law has several loopholes and should be amended by:



• Changing the definition of assault weapon to include pistols, rifles and shotguns with a detachable magazine and thumbhole stocks or pistol grips.


• Regulating assault weapon frames and receivers to reduce the availability of gun parts that are easily assembled into deadlier weapons.


• Outlawing the importation, sale and use of high-capacity ammunition magazines, especially those that hold more than 10 rounds.

You guys are missing the big picture.  These doctors are not just 'anti-gun', but they are socialists/communists.  One of the docs I work with tries to increase profits by cutting the fat and making our clinic run more efficiently.  But then he is thinking of voting for Kerry who is guaranteed to increase taxes.  I should ask him 'Why the fuck do you want to increase profits and then piss it all away in taxes by voting for Kerry'.  The 'doctors' behind trying to ban guns are the same ones that donate time and $$$ to Kerry's campaign and every socialist cause out there.  They're the same fucked up misguided morons who belong to 'Doctor's Without Borders', giving care to people in other countries when they could just as well donate their time here in the USA.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Che Guevara physician types that a .22LR couldn't solve.

Medication errors in hospitals cause 45,000~>90,000 deaths/year per a University of Colorado study with 2/3 of the incidents being directly attributable to doctor's illegible handwriting. To use extremism well learned from the DU types, doctors kill a Viet Nam war worth of people every year.

P.S. In defense of a lot of good physicians that I work with, there are a significant % that are into social darwinism(if you are that stupid to use drugs and live as a criminal, then you need to go extinct). Don't judge all doctors by the actions of a few ijits just as ARFCommers shouldn't be judged by the impression people have of some of nut case militias.

Actually I think they cause more deaths than all gun related deaths put together (accidents, suicides, murder). WAY more.

When I was in medical school, I'd get into this debate all the time:
Lib med stud chick," What, You own A GUN?!?!?!"
Me: "Nope."

I'm amazed that a profession that demands empirical proof and double blinded studies before deciding on the most comfortable bathroom tissue will, without a shred of evidence, accept any crap spewed forth from the emotional morons. It is a total abandonment of science for emotion/politics and one of the many reasons I dropped my AMA membership.

I work with at a research lab as a technologist with  guy who has a PH.D in Physics and used to work for the Department of Energy on Nuclear Weapons. Bigtime supporter of the scientific method, very intellectual. I listen to him complain to another PH.D about taking a test online to asses his poltical leanings. He said" That damn test said I was conservative I AM A DAMN SOCIALIST". He is a big John Kerry supporter and anti gun too. It scares the hell out of me, this guy worked on nuke weapon research in the Cold War and he is a socialist.

i ALWAYS have on some form of a gun t-shirt when i go to see my doc. when i first went to him a few years ago i said, hi, i'm maxwell. i'm pro life and a life member of the nra, you don't have a problem with that i'm sure. he didn't say squat.
