I would like to make a new M-4orgery, who makes the best?
I'm a fan of Bushmaster and RRA... there are some high end models that will cost you a lot more, but BM and RRA are both top notch and somewhat affordable. RRA is a steal actually when you price them out.
Two BM uppers have served me without fail for thousands of rounds.
I love my Fulton Armory M4 upper. Same quality of Bushmaster and RRA but alittle cheaper. My .02
I thought a couple companies had contracts to produce them. |
i have to go with CMMG, special run the did on the 1 & 7 twist crome line the whole works even m4 feed ramps. i love mine it has had a lot of people look at it and like it. its on my preban colt . its a very nice upper allot nicer than my bushmaster i had. just my 2 cents. Ronald

If you find an upper that is marked M4, and is not a Colt, let me know. |

My postban BM has done very well with just about anything I fed it. Even a steady diet of wolf.
My bad
www.dodig.osd.mil/audit/reports/fy97/97165sum.htm I knew DoD released the specs for a competitive bid, didn't realize they did so improperly. |
I'm using a RRA upper and it has functioned flawlessly. Top notch quality in a RRA.
He asked about making an M4-orgery in the body of the message.
Bushmaster is the correct answer. |
I have an LMT and love it. Go see Wes, he will make you a poor man.
The title of his thread ---> M-4 Uppers who makes the best? Bushmaster is incorrect, they don't make a M4 upper. M4 upper = 1/7 twist with M4 ramp feeds 14.5" barrel. BM = 1/9 twist no M4 ramp feeds 16.1" barrel. Colt is the correct answer. I accept your apology. ETA: Oh yeah! and parkerized under FSB. |
My BM M4-STYLE upper has a 14.5" barrel.
The 1/9 twist is BETTER for M193. ..along with no funky-size holes or PC sear block garbage. |
I didn't know uppers had sear blocks. |
I don't know about the feed ramps but this is 14.5" and has M4 profile.
Ok,
Colt has the M4 upper. Bushmaster has a "copy upper". HMC2RN, If you want a M4 TYPE upper, look at the options available to you. What ammo do you want to shoot? How close to a M4 Type upper do you want? Do you wanna pay a litttle more for a Colt? To get the best quality. LMT, BM, RR, fill in the blank__________ all make M4 type uppers. You asked who makes the BEST. The answer to M4 or M4 type is Colt. They make the BEST. |
More money=more quality when you buy a colt?
You guys crack me up. If you buy a colt then you just dont know. Bushmaster would be the way to go. |
Dude? Your statement is truely . |
Where's STICKMAN? He loves to Bash Colt! A classic case of "I'm buried in this knockoff so I'll try to believe it's good"
I would go with Colt first with LMT a close second. It seems to be a little know fact that there are dimensional differences between the rail on the Colt M4 upper with Colt M4 barrel front sight base height compared to other manufacturers. Lewis Machine & Tool is the major upper subcontractor for Colt, Bushmaster and a few others. |

You get what you pay for. |
Not always the case.... some times more = paying just for a big brand name This IS one of those times! |
Yeap, you tell that to our troops over in the Mideast.
Hey you! Yes you over there with the M4. Stop shooting for a minute, and let me tell you how much better you could have done without using that gun, based on name alone. |
I am rather partial to all three of my Olympic Arms uppers, although two are 20" and one is 16" they have never failed me. I routinely out shoot every other person at range qualifications and often shoot clean with no misses.
I believe the Olympic barrels are some of the more accurate out there. |
only Colt and LMT make true M4 uppers
TECHNICALLY only Colt because M4 is a Colt trademark.... but LMT M4 uppers have the same exact features as Colt. |
To me, the real question is do you want a 1/7 twist, chrome lined barrel? If so, your options are limited.
Bushmaster & DPMS have seen the error of their 1:9 ways and do offer 1:7 Brls on a somewhat limited basis. That said a Colt 1:7 is always my first choice. |
Those are special order, correct? I was hoping to avoid paying a premium for a Colt LE6920 upper this Fall. If Bushmaster & DPMS are starting to carry 1/7 barrels, I might just wait a while. |
Not really "special order" Per se. CMMG always has DPMS 1:7 brls. Pete in NH usually has Bushmaster 1:7 Brls. That's where i got mine. |
Actually, The M4 I was issued last week has a M4 marked Diemaco upper on it. Just thought I'd throw that in there to stir the kettle. |
