Long story short:

My mom just went into a rehab nursing home.
My dad wants to give me a nice sum of money (long story deleted).

How can my dad give this 'gift' and not suffer as a result of a Medicaid audit at a later date?
How can we minimize tax impacts?

TIA for your help for I know this is the true reservoir of all earthly/unearthly knowledge!
