I'm looking to get an AR for target shooting here in Georgia. I was wondering what is the best kind to get. Bushmaster, Colt, Olympic,etc...  I'm leaning more towards Colt, but Bushmaster has good prices. I want one with good accuracy. What do you all think I should get???

thanks,
jeff

Check out the LEGP in the Limited Edition forum. Its a great rifle to start out with. Plus you'll be supporting this site.

The LEGP is a good start. It's a 16" non chrome lined barrel, so maybe not quite what you are looking for. Still remains to be seen how tight they are.

Since the prevailing opinion is Bushmaster, I will suggest Armalite. Top quality, good reputation for customer service. One of the best. A little bit more expensive.

As to Colt, I have heard good and bad as far as quality control goes lately. I am very happy with mine.

Don't forget about Armalite. I have a friend who has an Armalite M15A4T which is a 16" Carbine with match barrel and trigger. He shoots 1/2 MOA at 100yards with a 3 by 9 Leupold scope. I have seen him hit 308 casings at 100yards easily. If you live in the Atlanta, Bernie's Sport Center is a Armalite Dealer. Or try Dixie Ammo Dump.

The truth is that between Colt, Bushmaster, and Armalite, there is very little difference in quality, but much difference in price. Buy the cheapest of the three and you will have a nice reliable AR.

I usually say Bushmaster but you can help support the site if you get the Limited Edition Group Purchase (LEGP).

Its a good price if you want that configuration.

Otherwise *BUSHMASTER* all the way!
