Comcast dropped their own "unlimited use but horrible retention and completion" news servers and partnered up with (IIRC) NewsGuy. So, you now get a great news service, but you only get something like 1GB of downloads per month for free. Beyond that, you have to pay for a news service just like everyone else.

I think my limit with Speakeasy is 1GB per month.
I used to be an avid Newsgroup user until I discovered "other means". cough*BitTorrent*cough  Yeah, I know if you want to stay under the radar Newsgroups and IRC are still the best way. |

$15/month gives you unlimited and pretty high-speed downloads from UseNetServer.com, and they have HUGE retention.
