I've never used one so I can't give an informed opinion, but that cheap price tag, as well as the Oly brand engraved on the side always made me a bit cautious.

Put a bayo lug, flash hider, and collapsible stock on it and I'll buy one for the wife and see if its any good.

It's not going to be a state of the art rifle, however, it is currently identicle to the GI-16. I have three Olys that run well, so I'm not afraid of the logo.

Last plinker I saw had it's bolt break.

A buddy down at oly told me that Oly was good, except for the plinker.

For someone that has no idea how easy it is to build your own AR. or a first time with no Idea about them, It is a pretty good deal, but my Father in Law wants one and I told him to put the money twds parts and We could build him a better rifle...
I vote that it is a good value over all.. |

I don't see how you can build a mil-spec (or close to it if you can't get the 4150 steel / chrome lined bore and chamber) for any where near $519 even if you have the tools already.
The cheapest parts kit I've seen is over $400, add $90 for a Mega lower plus shipping and trasfer fee and your still over the Oly Plinker plus. The only thing that would hold me back is that I've heard some bad things about tight mag wells on Oly lowers (orlite mags don't drop free on some rifles). |
