It looks like the 25MM from a Bradley.   Never seen it mounted that way.  Necessity is the mother of invention!!!

Man, that is an awfuly big gun, I just hope that the mount is strong enought to handle the recoil.

The pilot's gonna love the muzzle blast from that setup.

I hope they test fire it on the ground first to see if that window holds up.

Now that's what I call a "strap on."

I concur, looks like a 25mm M242 Bushmaster chain gun to me

Steve

It has a single fluted barrel and looks like the feeder is missing.

Barrel definitely looks like a Bradley 25mm gun. If anybody can give us details, please post. I have never seen this set-up before.

Thats not a Blackhawk its a Seahawk and that is a Mk 44 Bushmaster II 30mm Chain Gun.

Thats probably the mine warfare kit for the new MH-60S "Knighthawk" naval multi-mission helicopter.

The MH-60S, fitted with airborne mine countermeasures (AMCM), will begin to replace MH-53 Sea Dragon mine countermeasures helicopters in 2005. First flight of the AMCM version took place in July 2003. The MH-60S mine countermeasures systems will include: Raytheon Airborne Mine Neutralisation System (AMNS) with BAE Systems Archerfish expendable underwater vehicle that destroys the mines; Northrop Grumman Rapid Airborne Mine Clearance System (RAMICS), a non-towed mine neutralisation system that will clear near surface and surface moored mines using a Kaman Aerospace laser target sensor and a 30mm Mk 44 gun; Lockheed Martin AN/AQS-20A towed sonar with mine identification system; Northrop Grumman Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS); and EDO Corporation Organic Airborne and Surface Influence Sweep (OASIS).

The physics are the same as used by the infamous Russian "Squall" unguided rocket torpedo that supposedly reaches 200kts underwater.

It is part of the Rapid Airborne Mine Clearence System (RAMICS) . The weapon is an ATK Mk 44 (Bushmaster II). It's a 30mm.

Ditto.

Imagine the pilots reaction when he gets 20 degrees of starboard yaw just from firing the thing.
