THERE IS A TYRANNY SNEAKING UP ON YOU
No, it is not gun control -- though it will facilitate the tyranny of gun control, and every other kind of tyranny the right to keep and bear arms is intended to prevent.

No, it is not fiat paper money -- though it is the next step in the progression of that tyranny.

No, it is not computerized corruption of the vote, though it will prevent you from taking any corrective action to prevent corruption of the vote.

No, it is not Communism or Socialism or Fascism or any other political ideology -- though it will facilitate whatever political ideology your masters decide is best to achieve their power agenda, and will be indistinguishable from the Feudalism and class distinctions our forefathers threw off in the American Revolution.  It will be a lot more oppressive, however, for our "masters" want to teach the upstart colonists a serious lesson in humility.

No, it will not be imposed upon the people by force of arms.  You will voluntarily accept it, or you won't eat.

You won't buy groceries.

You won't pay your rent or make house payments.

You won't make tax payments, and you will lose your home or whatever property you think you own in which government claims a superior interest.

You will be on the street without a pot to (you know the rest of that tacky cliché).

You will not be on the street without a pot very long, for it will become illegal and government will assimilate you into some government program to either bring you into compliance with the program currently in development or lock you up and sit on you to prevent another righteous revolution by the 3% of the population that believes in liberty.

The tyranny to which I refer is the growing requirement that a wage-earner ask permission of an outside third party, such as a bank or money-changer, to receive his wages in a form useable in the marketplace, and the unaccountability of that bank or money-changer if permission is denied for any reason whatever or no reason whatever.

It won't be long before "You own a gun?  Sorry!  We choose not to cash your payroll check."  Or "You own a gun?  We consider firearms to be very costly to society, and so we are charging you 70% of the face value of your payroll check to reimburse the victims of gun violence."

Ever wonder why it is so important for the gun-banners to develop databases of gun owners?

Let me guess...

1.   A bank you don't have an account at won't cash your paycheck,

2.   You refuse to go the direct deposit route,

3.   You deal only in cash to avoid as many taxes as possible,

4.   You think the John Burch Society is way too optimistic,

5.   You have secret pictures of secret UN vehicles in secret locations in Utah,

6.   You never sit with your back to a window or door,

7.   You know that International Jewry controls the US,

8.   Everybody else is a tool but you,

9.   Your mind was poisoned by a small pox innoculation in the 1960's,

and, last but not least...

10.  You live alone in the woods of Idaho with no one around for 100 miles, but the Federal Government has you on their watch list because you "know too much."

Maybe it's time to get a med check?

Actually, thats a rather good one, if I can help it I don' sit with my back to a door or window. It' a situational awarness thing. I want to see whats going on it could be the differance between having yer gun drawn ans the psycho walks through the door, or being dead in a hail of gunfire as he walks through the door.

It could be the differance between seeing some ass hat steal your car or walking out and finding yer car gone. lots of shit.

Give us your proposed solution. Don't just run around in a circle waving your arms over your head and hollering that the sky is falling. Suggest a solution.

Government control of banks?
Payroll in cash every Friday?

Well?

Okay, since yours was the only response to date that indicated an interest in the subject rather than in being an ignorant smart-ass, I will respond:

With regard to "Government control of banks":  FYI, the Office of the Comptroller of the United States has given color of authority (not pursuant to law) to the national banks to refuse to cash payroll checks (or any checks) for any reason or no reason supposedly to cut down on losses due to "identity theft".  (That approval is not speculation; it is fact.)  Regardless of the legitimacy of the "identity theft" issue, the policy of the federal government is to do away with physical money and make all transactions electronic.  The objective is to make it possible for banks (being the ones who facilitate transactions) to easily charge a fee for every transaction that occurs in the marketplace; to assess and collect taxes for government without effective opposition or objection; and to deprive those who oppose government policies for whatever reasons (and some reasons are darned good ones!) of their resources.  All of this will occur without effective recourse, or if there is a structure for recourse available, it will take months to get it to work.

As for a suggested solution, the solution already exists and is a matter of statutory law:  The wage payment law of every state requires employees to be paid their earned wages and the Uniform Commercial Code  requires the signer of any check dishonored by a bank to cash it according to the terms under which it was issued.  (Every state has codified the UCC as state law except Louisiana.)  The UCC provides that a debt paid by check is suspended pending cashing of the check, but if the check is refused, the debtor still owes the funds.  The entire wage payment law and the UCC is designed to prohibit exactly what is happening now, and the courts are ignoring these statutes and ruling against any wage-earner who claims he has a right to his wages without having to ask permission of some twerp in a bank.

"Payroll in cash every Friday" would work, and don't claim it is impossible in today's world because that is exactly how Australian businesses pay their non-management personnel (it is required there by law) and it works fine.  (I lived there four years.)  However, if that is too big a problem, there is an easier way:  The property conveyed by check is the property belonging to the payee.  If the employer gives the employee's property to an outside third party without the employee's permission, the outside third party has a legal obligation to transmit it to its rightful owner immediately and without interference.  Charging a fee for that is extortion.  If the check is defective (insufficient funds, for example) then the bank has no obligation to cash it and cannot be held liable for refusing to cash it (See UCC 3-408).  If the check is valid, however, and the bank refuses to cash it for its own internal policy reasons, then the bank should be held liable for that failure, UCC 3-408 notwithstanding.  As for the fees the bank may rightfully charge for its services, they should be charged to the account-holder, not the payee of the check.  The bank provides services for the account-holder the account-holder doesn't want to provide himself; therefore the account-holder should pay for those services.  The wage-earner doesn't need them or want them and should not have to pay them as a condition precedent to receiving his wages lawfully due him by right.

Lastly, you may think this is a big joke because all you have to do is waive your right to financial privacy and to your property by opening a bank account and you won't be asked for a fingerprint or charged a fee or required to show ID from two additional institutions of the bank's choosing.  But if the banks can do it to those who cash their payroll checks over the counter, they can do it to their account holders and sooner or later they will -- and because you didn't object now, you will have nowhere to go to receive your wages without interference.

You can be certain the major national and international banks want you to be deprived of your right to keep and bear arms.  If they can do away with physical money, they can prevent any transaction involving a firearm from being completed, and they can charge any fee they want if they do let it go through -- and they don't need a law to do it, on the theory expressed by many on this board "If you don't like it, deal with someone else."  Only there won't be anyone else.

You have hit the nail on the head. We here on arfcom are generally oblivious to encroachments on liberty, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that we had absolutely no idea that some wage payments are made by check or by direct deposit. I never heard of such a thing, and I'm sure the other arfcommers were equally ignorant, since we all transact business using bags of salt. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sparing a few minutes of your genius and insight to alert us to these new and frightening developments.

Why?

If you're going to suggest a conspiracy (among all major national and international banks) - you have to explain WHY these banks want that.

Or is it big government that's out to get us?  I've got trouble following your "logic" - but I am curious as to your explanation WHY "major and international banks" don't want me to own firearms.  Please explain.
