Since I don't know of any good automotive boards like this one, I was hoping maybe someone here happened to have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 4-Door sedan. My girlfriend may be buying one and I was looking for pros/cons.

Its a gm product.  you know its a piece of shit.

Tell her to get a Toyota or a Honda

If she says no, stick it in her ass and post pics.

You know, if you don't have anything intelligent to say, then just keep your mouth shut!

Dont insult my intelligence if you are considering letting your girlfriend buy a 5 year old GM product

Talking like that, you obviously don't HAVE any intelligence to begin with! Why don't you go on Ebay, buy some "bling-bling", smoke your crack, put on your Spider-Man PJ's and go to bed.

On a lighter note...

I work for a Chevy/Pontiac dealer, and I can tell you two things... I rarely see GP's on the used lot for too long, and I also rarely see them in the shop.

Draw your own conclusions, but please don't go near the Grand Am...

It's a good girl car, should be fine.

The GTP is quite fast, and handles very well.  The powertrain is excellent, although the interior kind of sucks.  It's a pretty good car, and will probably last for another five to ten years.

Nothing against the car in particular, but putting GTP or GT on a front drive V6, auto tranny car is really a laugh.

My friend has one; I don't know the year. It is quite fast, but as someone said earlier, I don't favor the interior. I hate the blocky buttons on a lot of GM products.

Thanks for ALL of your responses. I figured I might get some "colorful" commentary. I guess if the worse thing is big buttons in the interior, it's not such a big deal. Just for the record, I'm well aware of the current trends towards Japanese "hot rods" but they're just not interesting to my girlfriend. If someone wants to spend that type of money just to run 13's go for it.

Have her to take a look around for a Bonneville SSEI. Sharp cars, little problems with mine, and they are pretty quick too! Ignore the import tards that lurk around here sometimes. They are full of rice!

Have you driven a Nissan Maxima? Sideways-6, front wheel drive 265 horses 5-speed tranny

My SE will blow the doors off every squad car I was ever issued, including my old Impala that had the ZR1 engine. (But even the Maxima won't outrun a Motorola radio)

I have a 4 dr GTP (2000) that the wife drives now.

Car runs strong, and haven't had any problems with it.

If you like 'faster' cars that are practical, this is a good car.  With minor mods, you can run in the 13's in the 1/4.

The HUD (heads up display) is very nice.  It's annoying to drive a car without one now.

The interior isn't a BMW, but isn't falling apart either.

They are pretty spacious inside.  I am bigger, and have no troubles getting in/out, nor are the seating positions uncomfortable.

I recently bought a lease returned '01 Grand Prix SE with about 28.000 miles on it and absolutely LOVE the car. I wish I could have gotten the GTP, but they didn't have any of those available. It has been super reliable and a very nice riding, handling car. If it's been well taken care of I'd have no problems recommending them to anyone.

And it doesn't have GT or GTP on the side of it either.  It's also not an automatic.

I have a 97 GTP 2 dr. with 140,000 miles and still enjoy driving it. Its held up well and the only gripe has been the cheapish interior...
clubgp.com. I made some purchases based on some of the postings there...
