Good for what?

If it's the only one you have, then yes, it's good.

If you are looking to buy one and you see it for sale in the pawn shop, no.

Does Phoenix only make .22s?

The only thing they have going for them is they are cheap from what I have heard.

If it's a Phoenix Arms .22 pistol, it's crude but in my experience goes bang when the trigger is pulled. I'd rather have one of them than most of the pocket pistols. So yes, it's better than throwing rocks at someone to defend yourself, but only marginally. A gun I would want? Not really.

Sure wish evewryone would back off a bit on our young, new friend. Someone live near her? Offer a trip to the range (hell. I'll send some ammo). We need all the help from the young that we can get.

If she is in fact a troll, she will leave on her own.

I was going to buy a .22 as my first gun, and I thought I would buy the one he has - the Phoenix. should I? Of course I have to be 21. Or maybe get a ,22 rifle sooner.

I've got a Phoenix .22. It's a little finicky on ammo but overall worth the small price tag. Actually the one I have my uncle gave me. I had a problem with the takedown lever once and they sent me a new one, no charge. I'm happy with it.

They make a "target" barrel for it but don't bother.

Savage bolt .22 LR or Ruger 10/22.

Inexpensive and quality guns.

Necro, I really thought you might not be a troll for a second or two, but with  contributions to the site such as....

"I like this site".......  currently 4 pages (and a masterpiece I might add)

"My Step Dad has a .22 pistol called Phoenix".... (whatever that is)

and the classic..

"Someone IMed me wanting to see my puppies"...

I have come to the careful conclusion after a cumulative total of 20 pages of this that you, without a doubt are

Go with CRC's advice. Actually, you could add a Marlin to the mix if you stick with long guns. Probably the most bang for the buck with handguns (.22) would be one of the Ruger line up.

Phoenix pistols have jamming problems from my expierence, which was with the .25 version.    A ruger 10/22 is a great first real gun.

You guys.....she very well may be a troll, but how about a little application of Pascals wager here....

Walther p22 is a pretty cool pistol and ruger 1022 for a rifle.

Well necro

Depending on where you live you may be able to have a pistol given to you as a gift by family pr buy a handgun from a private seller.

Ruger makes some good .22 target pistols. Some of the best are made by a company called "High Standard". I have never shot a Phonex Arms gun but they look sorta cheap.

If you are between the age of 18 and 21, go with a .22 semi-auto rifle or carbine. The two most common and best are the Ruger 10/22 and the Marlin Model 60, I believe it's called. Both are rather inexpensive, reliable, have no recoil, are accurate and the ammo is super cheap. Learn with that and work your way up as you improve.

As for .22 caliber handguns, they too are the best place to start. But you do have to be 21 to legally purchase a handgun. I'd prefer starting a new shooter on a revolver (preferably 4" barrel as it's a good combo for accuracy and balance). For semi-autos, I like the Ruger and Browning Buckmark.

If you are serious about learning about firearms, that's the best advice I can give you. And get someone who really knows what they are doing to teach you how to use them as well as gun safety. Learning the safety aspects is the most important part of it all.

good observation... too bad there's no smilie icon for that.  Have you gotten all of your friends lurking here yet with you while you chat on the phone with them saying "watch this"?  Personally, I am amused by it all.  No shit, I really am.  I guess I feed it a little more by posting, but it always amazes me when the new girl of the month comes here and gains so much respect of the membership by her quality posts such as yours.  Don't get me wrong, I welcome females to the site, hell I've even met some of the female members in person, But you are definately the first one I've seen holding condoms in a pic.  If you want to be here, then be here, just quit trolling.

i had one of those pheonix .22 pistols i got both barrels with it too. 3.5 and 5" it was ok until i noticed that the frame and slide was cracked on the same side(right side) so i took it to a gun show and traded it for a probable even worse pistol, LLAMA but i wouldnt suggest a pheonix 22 or 25. they make both.         i then saved my money and got a walther p-22,5" barrel, now having about 4-5k rds through it, no problems or malfunctions. i got it for $300. i like it a lot better than that pheonix

my 2 cents for ya

oh yea i got a ruger 10/22 with about 100k rds through it, very fine rifle. even got a folding butler creek stock with it!!  i would prefer a ruger 10/22 over ANY other .22 rifle, my opinion...
