i know here in Metro Detroit, they used to have bus trips of seniors taking their
prescriptions across the bridge, not sure if that's still done.

My father goes to mexico once a year to buy his meds for diabetes.  He just walks into a Dr. office. They open up a book. He points to what he needs. They write him a script. He goes to the pharmacy around the corner, makes his purchase. Then walks back into the States.   No one has ever given him any grief about it when coming back across.

The meds that he takes are in the EXACT same packaging as the ones that he buys here at home, only cost MUCH LESS

I seem to remember that lately they've popped a few seniors coming back from Mexico with meds at the Nogales port of entry.

Personally, if the meds are safe and up to snuff I think anyone-seniors or otherwise-should be able to procure what they need.

Hell, if I knew it wouldn't be any problem I'd go get a shitload of Celebrex for my degenerative arthritic knee. I don't need to be made an example of.

I have a friend whose uncle bought 100 viagra from Mexico for $199. He says he can't tell the difference just that he saved about $700. Who knows.

Cipro up in Everett, WA, was about $6.50 per pill. Same Cipro in Leon, MX cost me under $2 per pill. Cipro is not only handy for anthrax, but is great for travelling in countries south of our border.

Well, I guess some of us are Just too stoopid to be scared?!Packaging is identical, effects when He takes it are identical. Price is less.
Same way with Dental work he has done in Mexcio. All the crowns and bridges he has are made in McAllen Texas, just like the ones my dentist uses on this side of the Border.  Price is 1/10th  of what it is here in the states.  I am not retired, and don't have the luxury of driving down to mexico everytime a tooth breaks or when I have a problem. Other wise I'd be right there with him.

I think Mexico get a bum Rap from Americans. Most of people's ROUGH/OUTLAW opinions come from the Border towns. They are rough No Doubt. But so are Border towns on the U.S. Side. El Paso, the automotive theft capitol of the U. S. Comes to mind.

Inner Mexico is just as Safe as being in Kansas, Or New York City. My little sister finished up College down there. Her Skin is as white as the Freshly Fallen Snow. She Doesn't speak spanish, and had not a single problem.

I would trust Canada more than Mexico.

There are a number of web sites on the net that act as brokers for Canadian pharmacies.

What you do is fill out a form and fax it along with the RX to the Canadian broker. The broker calls you to make sure you are legit and to verify your RX and payment info, and than passes it along to the pharmacy. The broker charges $30-$40 a year. You are usually allowed two 90-day refills in addition to your original 90-day order, and then you have to fax a new RX and pay the broker fee again. Each company is different in that regard.

Note that US Customs is detaining medicine mailed from Canada on behalf of the FDA. The reason they give is to protect US consumers, but in reality the goal is clearly to protect profits. If they do detain your medicine (and they only catch some of it), they will send you a letter asking for you to contact them and at their discretion, they may forward you your medicine. If they have a wild hair up their ass that day, they will mail it back to the pharmacy then it is up to you to try to get a refund. I would assume getting a refund is not a major issue since you pay by credit card and you CC company should take care of you.

I have been doing this for several years now, ever since I lost my health insurance. The medicine I am getting from Canada is obviously working (mostly Lipitor) because all my tests have improved. And it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying from the local pharmacy.

Another trick I learned is to ask the doc for an RX at double strength and cut the pills in half yourself. You can save a ton of money doing that.
