NAJAF, Iraq — Iraq's interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi (search) on Thursday issued a "final call" to Shiite militants in Najaf to disarm and vacate the holy Imam Ali Shrine before the Iraqi military launches an offensive to rout them out of the compound.

Iraqi troops are poised to go after radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr (search) after he reportedly rejected Iraqi government demands to end the bloody uprising in Najaf.
