Death Row Inmate Attacks Guard  8/18/04  WBAP.com

HOUSTON (AP) - A Texas death row inmate stabbed a guard 13 times with a sharpened metal rod believed taken from a typewriter the prisoner had used.

The attack by Jorge Salinas happened Monday night as the inmate was being escorted back to his cell.

Salinas is on death row for a deadly carjacking in Hidalgo County.

Spokeswoman Michelle Lyons says the guard is expected to recover.

Salinas wasn't injured, but he's now in a higher level of custody and has lost his privileges to use items such as a typewriter and radio.

Salinas was condemned for the 2001 deaths of Geronimo Morales and his daughter -- 21-month-old Leslie Ann Morales.

The toddler had been removed from the car and was found dead -- from dehydration and exposure -- in her car seat at a park near the Rio Grande.

Her father's body was later found in a citrus grove.

The vehicle turned up in Reynosa, Mexico.

Its a flawed system.

Having the baliff shoot the defendent in the back of the head immediately following the guilty verdict would be significantly cheaper.

It shouldn't though should it?

In a just world the guard would have killed him on the spot.

When Old_Painless is elected Emperor of the World, this fine fellow would be tied up, strapped to a big adult sized car seat, and put out in the desert until he had died from dehydration and exposure.

Then, I'd burn him.

Put him a dark solitary cell, weld the damn door shut.  He will get his 3 meals and the rest of his time 24/7 - 365 days a year till he dies is in absolute Farking silence, no human interaction!  He will go terminally insane long before he dies naturally, nothing like completely destorying this asshats mind, Hell its better than killing him!

Unfortuately, they don't teach you how to kill someone with your bare hands.  If you work in close contact with inmates (ie. not in a tower) you have no lethal weapons.  Some agencies don't even issue non-lethal weapons.

And Amnesty International cries about the treatment of those incarcerated.

99% of jail and prison inmates are fucking savages.

If you have been robbed, thank a criminal; if you are scared to death, thank a lawyer.

Quite right...

Without resorting to cruel & unusual punishment, a 9mm to the forehead seems an appropriate metnod of execution... Murder in prison should result in a 'fast track' trial & execution, esp if the evidence is incontrovertable, IMHO...

And no one mentioned KICK HIM IN THE FUCKING NUTS?  A BILLION times.  Then strap him to aforementioned chair and place in said desert.

Ya'll are exaggerating. They only bill you if you come to get the body, otherwise they pay for the bullet and bury you out back.

I worked in two maximum security prisons.Alot of guards are combat veterans (Vietnam,Panama,Beirut,Iraq,Afghanistan) and probably would kill some of these assholes, but they don't want to lose thier jobs/be criminally prosecuted especially in a liberal state like Massachusetts.
