Exactly what I was thinking - is that some kinf spec. forces using A1's?  I've heard that folks some prefer A1's for the less possiblity of damage as opposed to A2 sights.

They are most likely not US troops. The rifles are FREE hand me downs from uncle sam.

the philippines make their own M16's - who knows their variants?

(not that I can say those are filipino's, but if they are, that's why their hard to place.....)

But those support-issued L85's have the ODDEST sights

Yes, I would.  Again, and again, and then one more time for old times' sake.

Why no optic on these SA-80's? These guys look pretty high speed with the comm headsets, etc. I thought only service troops had iron sights in the Brit Army. Anyone?

Whats the deal with this picture?  It doesn't exactly look good that you have to guys covering, one guy flat on his back on a roof and a medic working on him.

Got info?

Interesting pic of the guys from 1ID.  Glad to see they seem to have evolved from the untrained shitbags (atleast 1/18INF) I knew when I was assigned to them.

What year were you in? Were they really bad?

His barrel and irons looks pretty beat too.... must be an older SA-80 without the optics and with that condition?

I was there from 98-00. These guys pretty much lived just to get drunk every night of the week.  When we went to the field, it was like working with a bunch of trainees at Benning. I literally jumped for joy when I found out I was headed back to Bragg.

Don't get me started on their views of training either.

Plenty of info on the original web page where the pictures come from. However....
