I'd have to agree with radioman. If its Russian or Chinese and in good condition, $175 is a pretty good price for an SKS. A fun gun, if you don't mind guns that vote Communist.

I saw tables full of SKS rifles for $99. Hell, one place gave you a free one if you purchased 1000 rds of ammo. Keep looking.

I find it REAL hard to believe that you'll find any decent SKS for less than 135 bucks ANYWHERE unless your buying more than one and cutting a deal on quantity.
A fair price for one in good condition with matching numbers, good bore and blueing is 175.00. Grab it, they're fun to shoot and ammo is cheap (at least for now). I have a Norinco and a '54 Tula and still take both when I go to the range. |

sorry if this pisses everyone off. i have a chinese with a monte carlo stock and love the thing. for all the negative stuff i hear about them, i think it is the best gun i have for the money i spent. i think it cost me $200 last year. the rifle is accurate at 100 yards, with grouping of 2 inches using wolf ammo and no bench rest. it is not sniper accuracy but i feel confident i can hit someone and make a head shot at 100 yards and a body hit from a couple hundred more. and since i dont want to compete, just target shoot, that is good enough for me. so basically, all i am saying is that to me, it sounds like a good deal if the rifle is in good condition. good luck.

Back in 94, i bought a russian one for $150. ADjust for inflation, I probably payed around $210. But I didn't regret it at all. Reliable gun, fairly accurate. Just dont expect to install aftermarket parts without some fitting. And be sure to do something about that goddamned red star on top of the receiver cover.

got a 54 tula here too! It shoot better groups then my buddies milled rec. AK and doesnt rattle like a little bitch like most of those 47.The only red gun I'll ever own.

I have a pre-ban Norinco complete with spike bayonet and original 20 rd. chi-com fixed mag with the star on the side as well as the original 10 rd. one.
I am thinking of selling it as I don't shoot it anymore and I need to subsidize a recent Walther purchase. The weapon is basically LNIB and has had less than 500 rds. run through it in the last 8 years. No dings on wood, all matching parts. Anyone interested? |

I must have gotten ripped off bad I bought a new one for 300, but it just says sks on the box it looks more like a semiautomatic ak47 to me

I've got a '54 Tula too! (new message board, anyone?) I love it and wont change it as it is, but if you like the SKS you'll LOVE the AK. I paid $275 for my Russian SKS in late 1999. Sure, I remember when they were cheaper but I remember when Poly Legends were $350, too. That was then, this is now. |
