The GSD is by far the best dog breed I've ever owned. They are totally cute and playful with their family, and they will gladly defend their family till their last breath. And the have the size, speed, and strength to be effective.

They are strong, intelligent, and loyal. They love to play and have fun, but they are also amazingly effective at guarding a household.

IMHO, no breed is all around better than the GSD

I gotta agree. I have adopted and raised 3 rescue GSD and they all were amazing companions.

Gsd mixed with wolf is best.

Parents had one when I was a baby.
Extremely protective of me and mom.

But our mutt that has gsd,lab and husky is really good dog.
Very protective of my youngest girl.
Only knock on him is he is a damn fur factory.

The doxie would die protecting us.
His heart is huge for his size.

This guy was gsd and wolf mix.
Family had two.

I've had 5 GSDs, and I know I'm gonna get roasted over this, but my Poodle, yes a French Poodle, was my best friend, my best protector and my smartest dog ever.

I miss him every day.

Forgot to mention that Poodles don't SHED HAIR.

Agreed. There can't be a one size fits all. The show breeders have ruined so many potentially good breeds. Landrace all the things...

I will admit that GSDs are up there in the top 3, but too much hair for top spot. My vote goes to Dobermans.
Same qualities. Fun, loyal, smart, protective, but without the hair.

GSDs are great for LARPers who tell all their friends they're going to send the dog to *insert famous local cop dog trainer here that nobody has heard of out outside of the county*.

Beagles are best for families.

Meh. Herding dogs are bleh. Too anxious and dont have an on/off switch like the real best breed - Lab or Husky any day over a GSD

My neighbor’s GSD is my dog’s best friend in the world. They play together constantly, and we have known him since he was a puppy. We are part of his “pack” and when he comes over my job is to throw a frisbee or play tug of war with him.

He’s a wonderful dog.

The best part of the day, after playing with him, is sending him home.

He simply never quits. That’s great and all, but it’d be too much after a while.

Border Collie, too damn smart even to be called a dog. A two and a half year old me was saved twice by our dog.

You have to have them something to do at least half the day or they will find it on their own.

I have a Great Pyrenees that is absolutely vicious protecting home and family. I have a GSD that is also pretty good.

GSD's are greasy dogs and they smell. Like their owners.

Aussies, Pyrs, Berners and Golden Retrievers for the win. I like my dogs fat and fluffy and my women skinny and shaved. Sorry Midcap!

My parents have a gsd that is a great dog.
My dogs are all mutts from the pound, one of them is half gsd half cattle dog.
All dogs are great no matter what breed!

No, my lab is the best dog. 1 of my sisters is on her 3rd GSD. Amazing dags.

Yes, lots of breeds better then the GSD. depends on what you want in a dog. I would rather have an Australian cattle dog, border collie, or an Australian Sheppard .
