The former from a can, the latter a mixture of cranberries, other fruits and nuts, etc, usually bought or made fresh.

Sure, there are other desserts. But pick between these two:

Cranberries
Sugar
Water
Orange rind (zested)
Ginger

A little less "one noted" than regular cranberry "sauce" from the grocery store.

ETA: I make and can a large batch to last me through the year.  4 pounds of cranberries makes nearly a flat of pint jars.

Put both on the damn table and let the fat fucks eat to their heart's content. Or until it skips a beat and they take a breather.

I love a good relish, but enjoy sauce as well.

We make ours with Swerve.  I also juice the oranges, add diced apple, and toasted walnuts.  I like the idea of ginger...

Canned sauce is the only way to go. One year I even went out to the cranberry bog and collected fresh cranberries to make homemade sauce but it's still not as good as dat canned jelly

This recipe, plus some port wine and orange juice, and a little nutmeg. Killer.  Just did it.  Amazing on sandwiches afterwards for a week or more, too.

That can stuff is too gross once you’ve had the real. My dad’s culinary tastes evolved in Missouri in the 50s and ended there. So we have to have both.  If your tastes aren’t stunted, make it fresh one year. Kubota3430 gets it.  It’s really easy to do.

Not a fan of either but I guess I prefer the gelatinized crap in a can that slides out holding the can shape.
Neither was offered with today's dinner and I'm 100% fine with that as i didn't feel the need to eat some to be polite.

The stuff out of the can! I wonder how much of it they sell during the year in supermarkets, I've never known anyone to buy it except Thanksgiving.

When I make it from scratch, I use a potato masher and make certain that all of the cranberries pop so that the sugar gets inside.  I have friend who just leaves it be, and whatever does not pop presents a tart surprise.

Cranberry hockey pucks are the best……. I used to watch my uncle take a piece of dressing, cut it in half and put cranberry sauce and turkey between them and eat it like a sandwich…… and it’s awesome

Both on our table today. Hence the poll.

Today was one of my biggest carb cheat meals of the year. Most of said carbs were from Kroger’s Cranberry Celebration:

Cranberries, fresh, sorted, rinsed
Pan, stove
Add water, suger, brown sugar, orange juice
Splash of Gran Marnier
Cook at medium, skimming froth off
Cool in a tin
Store in fridge

My mom makes it fresh but doesnt cook it at all. Just uses a food processor to chop it into a milly paste with some orange zest. Ive tried to get her to cook it but to no avail. Raw cranberries are kind of gritty when chopped. It's terrible. Ive just been buying my own bag and making the easy recipe off the back of the bag.
