I know, it’s a movie.

But

WTF?

1. Navy Capt has his own P51? What did he do? Bitcoin at $1?

2. The mission itself is totally Luke and the Death Star.

3. Probably the most famous pilot in the Navy and the youngsters don’t know who he is when they throw him out of the bar.

4. Plane jacking the old Tomcat? LOFL.

5. Myles Teller needs more acting lessons.

Overall I can give only one thumb up and a solid meh.

Yeah there were a lot of things that were a stretch to say the very least.

That said it was a fun movie. Nice to see something that wasn’t woke as fuck.

Pretty obvious rip off of Iron Eagle 2,but still an okay movie considering the garbage being made today

Yep. I enjoyed it. It’s a movie.

OP gets two thumbs up for the Men on Film reference.

Nice work.

I wanted more of the test aircraft.... I was disappointed when they didn't steal it to use in the mission.

And if the movie was made 100% realistic you'd be bitching that it was boring.

Lighten up, it's a movie.  In a sea of woke garbage it's great.

It was definitely a fan movie, for fans to enjoy and see "officially"  how Maverick has been doing all these years and to see him ride off in the sunset.

The in cockpit footage was them genuinely in the backseat of F-18F Super Hornets.

1. He bought it one piece at a time, Johnny Cash style
2. That was a good movie
3. In an alternate universe he was a hit man who was well practiced at blending in.  Some of that crossed over.
4. It belongs in a museum!
5. Fighter jet go zoom!

I also watched it last week. Blasted on a surround system & 4K still couldn't make up the fact I was watching part 1 with some changes for modern times.
I mean really the entire mission was stupid, & could have been done in many ways.

Disappointed if this was made a couple of years after the first one, but today I'd rate it damn good relative to what hollywood has been producing lately.

I enjoyed it just for the flying and Jennifer Gardner.

Compared to most shit today it was good. Jennifer Gardner pushed it in to great.

Navy pilot should have had a F4 or F6. But I guess they couldn't find a two seat version for Jennifer Gardner to ride in.

It's the Death Star scene in Star Wars.

It's just a movie and was visually better than 90% of the garbage put out by Hollywood.

It was meh to me as well, decent watch but you had to disconnect your brain and even then it was still meh. I like that it wasn't woke, that was nice but it's not good movie let alone a great movie.

I tried to watch it on a flight a few weeks ago.
I forced myself through the first parts, but could only make myself watch it to the flashback in the bar.

It's been a long, long, long time.  You should have gotten over it by now.

Also, who remembers things in the third person?
Quit using old clips in new movies.

1. It wasn't woke

2. It was true to the original and to the characters

3. It was entertaining enough and had enough realism for me to give the fake stuff a pass

4. Made the US Military look cool

5. It wasn't woke

More than anything what I was wondering, how the hell Tom Cruise still a captain and still in the Navy like 30 fucking years later?  The excuse in the movie is Maverick's been a bad boy, but like, seriously?

Meh, whatever.  Enjoy it for what it is, a fun movie to watch.

I have a family member who did 30 yrs and was in every conflict in that time retire at LCDR.
He indeed was a “Maverick” and tended to miss promotions.  His focus was not nexessarily in line with “the needs of the Navy”.  It actually happens.

His men LOVED him.
