Pelosi insists Democrats will maintain the majorityHenry Connelly, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, derided the Commitment to America as "doubling down on an extreme MAGA agenda." Pelosi has been bullish that Democrats will defy historical trends and hold on to their majority. In particular, Democrats believe the Supreme Court decision to overturn a federal right to abortion access will tip competitive races in their favor. A pair of Democratic victories in House special elections in New York and Alaska have given the party cause for optimism that a "red wave" is not on the horizon.
We fully intend to hold the House," she told reporters last week, "And even though there are some among you who belittle my political instincts and the rest, I got us here twice to the majority, and I don't intend to [give it up]." Republican leaders have also made clear they plan to run the House differently than Democrats have, notably by promising to end the practice of remote proxy voting that was approved as an emergency measure in response to the pandemic. |

She's mighty confident. So is her nephew in California.

Is that she why reported to have sought the U.S. ambassador position to Italy?

What did you expect her to say; "Thanks to the alcohol and senility fueled stupidity of my leadership, and the batshit crazies in the progressive wing of our party, we're going to get fucked stupid in November"?

A month ago, I would have said she was full of shit. Now, I'm not sure. The Republicans seem determined to shoot themselves in both feet.

But keeping the Ambassador to Rome back up plan just in case.

It's like they know something View Quote Never have nor will they ever admit that they were going to lose when it's obvious they are going to lose. It would collapse their fundraising efforts and make the loss worse. A couple days ago, Schumer was overheard talking to other Dem Senators in a Washington restaurant about how the House was gone. In private, they are admitting it. |

Possibly. If it happens it will be because of female voters.

Yeah, that Red Wave is now looking like a gently breezy pink mist. It appears to be a crapshoot whether we take the House. The Senate looks pretty much lost. It will remain 50/50 or the dems will pick up a couple seats.
Pray the "experts" are wrong. And that enough people are paying enough attention to prevent dem shenanigans. |

Before the Roe v Wade reversal I would have said she's talking out her ass (as usual). In fact, it was shaping up to be a huge romp and I believed we would have handily taken both houses. Post reversal, I think she's correct. Abortion has always been the holy grail rallying cry for the Dems, and this decision has galvanized them to the extent that those Democrats that would otherwise not vote in a midterm sure as hell will be this time around. They will maintain the majority, albeit by a much slimmer margin.

She said the EXACT same thing in 2010. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/pelosi-democrats-expect-to-keep-house-majority-battle-tested-for-campaign And in 2014 https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2014/07/16/nancy-pelosis-goal-is-to-win-25-seats-read-how-she-thinks-it-can-happen/ Then she predicted 2016 before 2014 was done: https://www.cnn.com/2014/10/01/politics/pelosi-2016-democratic-sweep-prediction And in 2016 https://www.vox.com/2016/5/16/11679242/nancy-pelosi-trump-guarantee-kara-swisher-podcast ON ELECTION night in 2016, she said Clinton would win and she would win the majority. And Schumer disagrees with her: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2022/09/15/chuck-schumer-democrats-midterm-elections-house-report/10389253002/ But keep on doom posting. |

And that enough people are paying enough attention to prevent dem shenanigans. My read is it's about 70/30 the R's take the house and about 70/30 the D's hold the senate. So most likely outcome is a split congress at 40%, with either party taking control of both at 30% each. For simplicity's sake I'm assuming the outcome where the R's take the senate but fail to take the house has 0% chance, but it's probably .1% or something. |
