Blatant trolling is against the CoC as #6.
Attacking or insulting a member in an effort to elicit a negative response. You have the right to disagree, but please do so in a respectful manner. This rule also includes posting disparaging remarks about a member's family. It does actually get enforced - but there are some very smooth talkers that try their best to do nothing but piss people off while dancing just on the side of being allowed. There's not much that a mod can do about that. ETA: Arguably CoC #7 covers it too. Posting topics or discussions that do the site or community harm. More specifically creating topics and or replies meant to disrupt the Site's day to day management, disrupt member's resources, or the ability of the Site to function normally. This can include but is not limited to posting overly large photos or .gif files, excessive emoticons, or the use of repetitive or overly long text strings. It can also be the posting of threads or replies, in which it appears that the sole purpose is to provoke other members, or to damage the image and/or reputation of the site. [emphasis mine] |

In my opinion, troll accounts should be shut down, IP banned, and all troll account info should be available for members to view. They should be subjected to the internet equivalent of a pillory.

I'm not directing this at you, OP, but a vast majority of the trolling reports are because someone said something they didn't agree with, which does not violate the CoC. If we catch blatant trolls, they get CoC'ed, but we aren't here to help members prove their point through the reporting system.
"Everyone in GD that doesn't agree with me is a Leftist Fed" is the gist behind many "trolling" reports. |
