I figured that Elba was a bit too old to play Bond. I'm a fan but it's a role that involves a lot of action.
Turning them down like this? His stock just went up another few points. |
|
He would probably do a good job. But I know this is being forced on us by the woke crowd so I would never see it. Even if someone gave me a free 4k bluray I wouldnt take it.

They just want to 'subvert expectations'. At least that's what they say. In practice it's always assassination of fictional characters. |

Which is totally fine.
I think he'd make a great Bond and wouldn't view it as woke Bond. |

They can’t meet numbers after years since Obama was in office telling us about tapping 1/2 the nation that was underutilized and equal to men. They fail to meet their goals but Recruiting General still spouts diversity is good conservatives are wrong when asked about why recruiting is failing. |

The fact that he is disinterested and keeping arms length lets you know how downhill the property has gone. There's always the hope that some random bunch of filmmakers will put together something wonderful like Everything Everywhere all at Once. But from the big studios... I'm not expecting anything like Top Gun Maverick for awhile. |

We've already seen the last "Bond" film.
The drive to Wokeness is simply overwhelming for liberals -- they cannot resist it anymore than they can resist breathing. It becomes their reason for living, surpassing every other thing to which they might have aspired. The real tragedy is that Liberals see wokeness as the goal that propels them to greatness, instead of the reality that it consumes and destroys everything it touches. |

Top Gun Maverick has been a juggernaut while shit like the Woman King is flopping. At the end of the day they have to make money. |

I have not watched the new Bond based entirely on what the studio said. My parents bought it and said it sucked so that didn't help. |

Yes, he’s aged out now. I think Daniel Craig was in his late 30s when he started.
My guess is that it’ll be James Madden from GOT and Bodyguard |
|
He's the one guy of color I'm familiar with that has the perfect presence on screen that could do Bond... smooth James Bond as I've known him ..

I like Idris Elba, for sure, but as Bond? Not as James Bond himself, but maybe another Double O agent? Sure.
But he's fitty year old? That's a bit on the mature side. They should just let the franchise be retired entirely. They need to stop with the "The New Insert-Beloved-Character" shit. Come up with new stories. |
|
I've enjoyed everything that he has been in and would totally watch a spin-off spy movie with him as "008" or whatever.
I have zero desire to spend my money to see him as the Bond character. It seems that he knows this. |

No surprise that Elba isn't interested. The Bond movies tend to pigeonhole their stars, and with the franchise commitment I think we'll not see a major star again in the role.

I'd like to see Bond returned to its roots, the way Ian Fleming wrote it.... a relatively small time agent (at least to start), who slowly gets into bigger dilemmas as his career progresses. In the 1950's. Without all the high tech gadgets, supervillains, supermodels, etc.
Unfortunately that'll never happen. |

It was obvious (and even SK admitted it) that he was picturing Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name character as Roland, and the description in the series wasn't ambiguous. IMO, aside from the blue eyes, Timothy Olyphant would've made a decent Roland. |
