Someone suggested a good multi-vitamin might help my back and nerve problems.

Now, and don't laugh, I have been taking Flintstone vitamine for the last year because they are also the ones my kids take.  And they taste good and I rather enjoy eating Betty Ruble.

Anyways...these are probably not the best for me at my age.

SO what do you all suggest??

get something that is as pure as you can get (ie: no 'filler' materials)

Vitamin Cottage or Vitamin World are the 2 places I frequent for my vitamins/minerals.
The Cottage usually has well trained people who will help you find what you NEED.

flintstones are better than none

Since you have children, you are likely half my age. Enjoy Betty, she did have a decent figure.

Take one without supplemental iron.

Too much iron has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease in men.

the gnc mega men brand has no iron ... that's why I picked it

This may sound screwy, but Pre-natal vitamins are the shit.

The have everything that you need.

as mentioned already, with the pre-natal, whatch your iron intake!!!!!!

Prenatals can be good, if you go for the kind with low iron content.  Too much iron is definitely a bad thing.  You also need to make sure that you are getting selenium.  It has been depleted from our soil, so you need to supplement it.

Sarge,

I'm a Doc w/a undergraduate degree in Nutrition.

Solgar VM-75 is excellent, availiable at GNC, healthfood stores...

Advocares Coreplex is excellent, need to find a distibutor to purchase.

Why not try a Chiropractor??

That's what I am!!

Vitamin B's will help with nerve pain.  I suggest Solgar's VM75 Multi-vitamin/mineral.  High in Bs, one tab per day.

I take a multi and an AC&E anti-oxident.  I have noticed less and less places carrying the ACE, though.  Was the anti-oxident thing just a fd that I fell for?  Was it discredited?

Anyone know a good place to buy them online?

You can't just pick something to take...well you can but it is a waste. To figure out what vitamins you need usually involves taking blood samples and maybe even some other samples...eewwww. It also involves a discussion of your current diet with some type of "expert". I went to a Naturopathic Physician in Portland, Oregon when I needed info. The tests indicated I didn't need to take supplements regularly and just a change of diet would make a huge difference. And man did it make a difference!

Now Betty probably won't hurt you...though she has food coloring and sugar added to make her so easy to swallow but taking the wrong vitamins can have serious negative effects.

I like telling people about it but there aren't many people that want to hear what needs to be done.
