Going through all my old catalogs...I saw no 1991-A1s in 10MM. I kinda know what you mean by mil-spec...or at least not a fancy one? (Mil-spec except for caliber) I know Colt made a bunch of .40 cals in the Government Model. I have fired them. I also remember a short frame life on Colt 10MM being talked about, back then too.

Only parkerized 1911 10mm I can remember was the Springfield "Linkless," which was offered in about 1992. I have never seen one for sale, but the flossy model, the Springfield Omega, pops up from time to time for about $1000.

The "linkless" had a different op system than the standard 1911.

It depends whose [b]mil[/b]itary [b]spec[/b]ifications you're talking about. The 1911 "mil-spec" has been available in 9x19 since the day the first one came out of the factory. As a matter of fact the first one ever made was in 9mm (so were the next 2,249).
In 1908 the whole world thought the "9mm Luger" was the new wonder bullet, not just Mauser / DWM.

Delta elite in blue and ss.....colt double eagle.....auto-ordanance made 1911 clones in 10 for a time....not sure on thier quality...there was a gold cup version of delta also.....why are you looking for a 10?....can`t blame you, i have one and like it, but there are other, more popular alternatives...........[smoke]

I can tell you for a fact Colt made one 'cause I've got one.It's marked Delta Elite,Colt Auto 10mm on side of the slide on the other side it says Government Model.

It's basically a 1911 chambered for 10mm.Springfield also made or makes one also.Never really understood why the 10mm did'nt take off.The reason was supposed to be recoil but it does'nt bother me.

Because it's a hot round the 10mm is supposed to shorten the frame/slide life.Mine is probably close to 15 years old but I only have maybe 300 rds through it so I can't say anything about frame/slide life.As far as knockdown To me the 10mm fits perfectly between not enough and too much.

Ghost...original question was about 1991....whether he meant 1991-1911-i`m not sure now....as far as i know, no 1991 models were 10`s.....B&G

The Colt Delta Elite 10mm guns were great for using to build a 224Boz 1911, 224Boz is a 10mm Auto case that's necked down to hold a .224 diameter bullet and with the Delta Elite very little had to be changed except for the barrel and the recoil spring.

The blue one i have is probably as plain as it gets. one slab says government model, and the other side says delta elite 10mm....i`ve seen them from time to time on the auction sites and it seems they are pricey...not sure why...there was one in the local news last fall, and the guy was asking 600 for it...again, not sure why.........[smoke]

Some agencies still use the 10....glock is the only one that i can think of that still offers one (at least most recent)..i have read in the recent past about some feds using the round and there apparently is 1 or 2 state police hanging on to thier old 1006 models....one of the reasons the ten didn`t stay popular is that smaller framed persons had a fit with recoil (some claim this on 45`s also???)..at any rate, the performance of the ten is certainly outstanding.....the emergence of 40 cal is putting another nail in the 10`s coffin too!...what i don`t quite understand is that subsonic 10`s are no worse than charged up 40`s...so why not just go with that, and have the capability of extra power?....maybe some p-c crap going on ???.....B&G..out
