That shit is vile....
El Yuckatero has the best flavor IMO for those you can buy in the grocery store. |

Eating like a bodybuilder these days means I eat the shit out of hot sauce
Texas Pete is my current go-to. I don’t need hipster shit, just a little heat and flavor. Vinegar based only for me. Crystal, Tapatio, and ChipotleTabasco are all good also |

For medium heat and delicious flavor, I like Grace Scotch Bonnet sauce. It is available at Wal-Mart in the same section as Goya products. |

View Quote i like Cholula for flavor and heat. If I want to add heat to something without changing the flavor I use Sriracha the Asian one with the rooster on the bottle. I like to add Sriracha to my bowl of chili because my wife can't handle heat at all |

Texas Pete is pretty far down my list of hot sauces I'll buy. I'll consume it if nothing else is available though.

Quoted: Mine too. When I moved from Texas to NC in the early 80s none of my friends could believe I'd never heard of Texas Pete. They just assumed we drank it like water here. View Quote I don't ever see Texas Pete here. On the tables its Cholula/Valentinas/Louisina, and pepper sauce (tabasco pepper in vinegar) I like the yellowbird and boerne brand sauces - both semi local. |
|
For those of you all excited about Texas Pete, is your idea of a good dinner steak and baked potatoes?
I ask because there’s no way someone who enjoys food would ever consider Texas Pete a good choice. Texas Pete is the absolute bottom of all hot sauce. Taco Bell and del taco packets are better than Texas Pete. |
|
I’d like to see the age range of these Texas Pete proponents. I have a new balance suspicion…

Quoted: Quoted: Texas Pete, Louisiana, and Crystal are all solid choices in terms of your basic hot sauce. 100% Concur. Add Trappey's Bull to that list. But, yeah, those are my basic all-purpose sauces. I love tapatio for something a bit hotter and tabasco for still more heat. Cholula is great on texmex food, as El Yucatan jalapeno sauce most texmex places keep on the table. There is no one single 'best' hot sauce. But yeah, sure, Texas Pete is a great general purpose sauce. Also - it's hard to find outside of the individual packets, but Salsa Del Sol is the BEST for gas-station chicken strips or chicken livers. |

Texas Pete is awesome. One of my favorites. I do like Sriracha a little better, though.

Red Pepper
Distilled vinegar Salt Tabasco Original. There can be only one. |

Valentina Extra Hot. That's a great table hot sauce. As far as popularity, the Mexican construction seem to use Tapito, so there's that. |
|
For a cheapo grocery store hot sauce... hard to beat Tapatio or Valentina.
|
|
Meh, Texas Pete is fine for a general purpose, not particularly hot, hot sauce. If it's what's available I have no issues using it. Having said that I don't think it stands out in any way from the other dozen or so other general purpose hot sauces out there. Hotter and specialty sauces are a whole 'nother animal though.

View Quote This right here fellas. El Yucateco makes the best store sauces. Asian and Cajun sauces come in second place. Texas Pete and Franks sucks. |

Texas pete is disgusting and shouldnt even count as hot sauce.
Should just be called... "red colored sauce" Crystal Lousiana Lousiana Habanero are all leagues better than texas pete red colored sauce. Thanks Op my afternoon is ruined just being reminded that people exist that like that shit. |

haven't had it but franks is one of the best hot sauces.
I make a great toasted habanero garlic honey hot sauce but damned if I could actually eat much of it. That one mason jar will probably last years. |
