I was clearing an old wood pile out about 2 hours ago when I saw about 5 large rats hanging out beside my neighbors chicken coop. They just sat there until I moved agained and they scurried away.

Went back in the house and got my Ruger 22/45 pistol that I just bought and some cheese. Went back out and threw the cheese along the ground and got down in the prone position waiting for them to come get it.

I was laying there for about 20 minutes when out of the corner of my eye I saw a rat sitting there looking at me about 3 feet away to my right. When I moved he took off.

I moved over to a tree and leaned up against it and 2 minutes later, here came a rat to get the cheese. POW! Got him right behind the choulder and blew his heart out! I was only 10 feet away.

Stupid rat.

My neighbor is also my father-in-law. He came out to see what was going on and I presented him with the rat. Now he wants me to shoot the rest. I'll check on the rest of the cheese later to see if they're stupid enough to come back and get it.

That was fun!

I liked my 22/45 so much, I even got a stainless frame for it...now looks like a MKII. Then I high polished the whole thing, put the Thumb rest grips on it...its a looker. And if you have the bull barrel model, I have turned the "warning stamp" off on a lathe and installed the front sight from a singe six (ramp instead of fish hook). That set up wont get caught on everything. Have fun on Rat Patrol!

I picked it up at a local sporting goods store on spur of the moment for $210. Before this gun the smallest caliber I had in a handgun was .40 cal. I was taking my 14 yr/o nephew shooting for the first time and thought it would be nice to have something that didn't have so much kick back---for him any way.

I love this thing! It's accurate as all get out and My nephew was hittin the 10 ring at 10yds. consistantly before we left for the day.

I did manage to bag one more yesterday, but I think the rest either figure something was wrong and wouldn't venture out, or it was getting to hot for that time of day for them to be running around.

I'll try the peanut butter late this afternoon after the wife goes to work. Haven't informed her of my recent purchase just yet! [:D]
