Tagged so I can watch it at home.

I love cable broadband!

Just watched it.  AWESOME!

wow! that was cool. wonder how mouch that thing cost? either way, looks like $ well spent.

the only thing he needs to construct along with that is a minature MECCA

That was very cool.

I wonder if he could put a saddle on it, and strap a little kid on for a ride.

Hmm, I don't see the dropable bomb with the Slim Pickens action figure on it.

Well the turbine engines are about $1800 each, but IIRC the plane belongs to the owner of the company that makes the turbine engines.

If you'll take a closer look it's also ALOT bigger than a 8 foot wingspan...........shoot the horizontal stabalizer os probably 8 feet across.

Probably has about 20-30 servos in it, my experienced guess is that it's in the neighborhood of about $15,000 as you see it in the video.

He could certainly sell it for at least that.

Looks like the wing span is a lot more than 8 feet to me. Bad ass!!!!! Now THERE'S an expensive RC plane! How cool is that? I'd give it a military paint job...maybe strap some fake munitions under it too.

That may well be the coolest thing seen all year...  Too bad they couldn't get that front left gear up.  It has landing ligts and all.

This proves that dorks, geeks, and space cadets are incredibly valuable resources.

Unfortunately, if this was in the states, Bush/Ridge/Ashcroft would likely label it as a potential WMD delivery vehicle, and would confiscate/destroy it under the guise of 'Americas Security".

Sorry, meant 8 foot per side. Not total.

Did anyone else notice that he flies around for about half the video with all the gears down, but then during the second half of the video all of the gears are up except for one?  For the first half of the video I was thinking to myself "It would be even cooler if the gears retracted." But I guess they do! (barring a malfunction)

Here are some REALLY expensive but true to scale and completely functional R/C planes.

Add some heavy smoke during and after take off and I'd of never known the difference.

they have a couple of different kinds of functional landing gear, but pnuematic is the most common.
there are a lot of lines, connectors, valves, and the pistons/seals of the gear itself.
it doesn't take too much leak-off of the air to keep them from working correctly.
i had a p-40 where the gear rotated 90 degrees as it came up, very cool to see. had the air leak out and the gear on one side collapsed on landing, not very cool to see.

BVM, think you can dig up a few videos of a turbine F-4 or F-15? This ought to be an interesting thread.

Better yet, a dual turbine Tomcat. How HOT would that be?

I haven't looked at it just yet, but holy hell that's cool.

The only thing it needs now is little remote controlled ALCM or ACM

No you don't. I saw a video yesterday of that plane crashing nose first into the ground.

The turbines are closer to $3k each and were donated IIRC by wren turbines for the builder of the project for PR reasons. Hell, most single or dual turbine small fighters cost $15 to build when all is said and done.

Everything about that plane was cool and rather realistic. Even the crash.

Ever notice how in real life most planes crash behind the treeline. Only in the movies do they always crash in front. True to real life to the end this thing crashed behind the treeline.
