Be there. Bring rifles, parts, and your favorite desert. Burgers, hot dogs, and Bacon (to honor AQ with) are on me. I do ask that no alcohol be brought for 2 reasons.
1. There will be weapons around. 2. I want EVERYONE to be stone cold sober, and remember the evening and what brought us to it. Tools will be on hand for the proper re-configuration of rifles at the stroke of midnight. Trip to range to follow during the day on the 13th. I am posting this now so as to give anyone that may want to come from out of town a heads up. |
Anyone that wants to make a weekend of it, since the 12th is a Sunday, I wouldnt mind doing something on Sat. for Sept. 11. Can make a whole weekend of it.
DUH! That would be helpful wouldnt it. I am in Jacksonville, Florida. |
Sniff Sniff.......I am getting all misty here....
DAMN, I wish I could be there, as it is, I will be all alone with my ARs and at the stroke of midnight, begin the restoration........ |
Sonoran is my favorite. How much should I bring? |
Hawkeye,
Can we still show up at midnight for food even if the ban does not sunset? |
Isn't VB day 14/Sept?
Which would make 13/Sept at 1159 as the last minute under Clinton's legacy? Don't want to break a stupid law on the last 23:59 of it's existance (or is that the point?)... |
Hawk count me in. I will have to buy a new rifle to reconfigure.
Of course. |
Cool! I'd like to bring a stipped lower, A3 upper receiver, barrel and all associated parts to build a complete rifle. I'll need help as i've never built a lower and upper before. I'd also like to free float
a rifle length KAC RAS. I'm sure the folks who show up will be able to school me, right? Man, Hawkeye's house for the sunset, then a few weeks later off to Waco for Gunstock! Do ya mind if I stay until your FDCC shoot at the end of the month? HS1 |
Good Sir. I am but 5 minutes from Jacksonville International Airport. You would most likely fly over my house upon arrival. |
I will be with you guys in spirit. Or, is the spirit going to be IN me?
The bill was signed into law on Sept. 13th, 1994. That would make Sept. 12th, 2004 the last official day of the ban. Why wait any longer? |
Outstanding idea! I will plan on it. But then you will be able to link my face with my screen name. Imbro says that if you can do that, you support genocide, government fabrication of evidence, and are in general a handmaiden of evil. Maybe I should stay home for your own good.
If I make it, what parts do I need to order, and from whom, to reconfigure a 20" HBAR into a babykilling EBR and maximize my thrust per squeeze? Do you have the tools, or do we need to start a kitty to buy tools for this orgy of sociopathy? |
The only think linked to your face will be a freshly grilled hamburger with an extra layer of greasy bacon to honor our friends in the middle east.
Tools will not be a problem, but your welcome to bring your own. |
if i ship you my AR, will you convert it and ship it back?
respectfully, cheapass |
That would be a fun event, but I'll be in Alaska fishing about then. Thanks for the nvite though, & both my ARs are prebans.
Hey, will you be able to put new sights with bayonet lugs on? I would love to visit Jacksonville sometime. I was born there, but I don't remember it cause my mom said I was very little then. |
Correct. The last minute of the ban is September 12, 2004 at 11:59pm. At 12:00am on September 13, 2004, it no longer exists. -Troy |

Bayo lugs....unfortunately no. The front sight post and barrel are drilled together for the taper pins. Thus replacing it with a different one would mean that the new sight probably wouldnt line up with the cuts in the barrel correctly. |

Since you are on East coast time, call me and let me know you are ahead of me by 1 HOUR OF FREEDOM............
So I wasn't supposed to put all the collapsible stocks on yet?
You are correct. I thought the law read that it was in effect for 10 years. It actually says:
Cool, one less legislative day. I think that only leaves like 24 more business days that the law is in effect and Congress is in session. |
You can put a separate clamp-on bayo-lug in front of the FSB, but you'd need a longer flash-hider for it to work... For all you M4gery guys, that shouldn't be a problem (the extra 1.5" of flash hider will come in handy)... |

My wife says that as things get closer, she wants a head count so as to know how many burger and such to get. Also, anyone coming from out of town, I can put up a few people, but, there are some decent hotels within 4 minutes of my house.
Count me in, I'm all the whole weekend. So far I only have one thing I can do to celebrate (puting bayonet lug on CETME), but I'm sure I can come up with something else too.
BTW, I have a birthday that week. Any pre-ban gifts will be appreciated!! Stephen |
I want to start getting a definite head count, so I can start making plans/preperations etc. Want to go ahead and put my notice in to take the 13th off as well.
Someone should set up a chat server using Teamspeak or the like so those of us who can't make it could be there in voice AND spirit.
I don't suppose there's going to be a lathe handy? A post ban barrel needs to be turned down to a half an inch before it can be threaded for a flash hider. I guess I could just get a preban barrel, but converting a postban would be more appropriate.

Hawkeye,
Won't be able to leave the Tampa Bay area at that time. BUT, I'll gladly send any tools ya'll might need. I've got the receiver block/insert, wrench, HS gages, etc. LMK. P.S. Have fun! |
I've got a good number of tools rounded up, however, there are a few things I am missing. Might take you up on that offer, especially the receiver block. |
count me in. I plan to purchase a new rifle just for this event.
Between now and about the 1st of August, I need to start getting a definite head count, so I can make accurate food preparations. Celebratory fireworks are already in hand.
If I lived closer, I'd come for gits&shiggles.
Unfortunately, I'd have to leave at 12:05 to be at work the next day. |
Cool Idea, wonder where ya' got it from,LOL Really though, I'm glad to see that someone is pickin' up the ball I threw out and doing something with it. I don't have any friendsin the area that shoot so I'll be putting my new "toy" together by my damn self. But at least I'll be celebrating VB day. Still need to figure out which "pre-ban" kit I want to buy. I'm thinking 6.8Rem in either an M4(w/16" bbl.) or a CAR kit in 6.8Rem. but then again I may just go with a 5.56 to start with and pick up a new upper at a later date in 6.8Rem after more mags and ammo are on the market. An XM177 Kit would be cool or a Disapator with a Phantom Flashider would also be a neat way to go. I'll figure it out by VB day, I'm sure. For those going to Hawkeyes party, have fun and be safe, wish I could be there but I guess I'll be there in spirit so don't sit on me, cause ya' won't be able to see me. LOL
I've had the idea for about, oh, 4 months or so now. I just waited until last month to post it so that I was a bit surer of the bans impending demise. |
OK, I guess I'll buy that. As long as you're sure it had NOTHING what so ever to do with my "party post" from yesterday. P.S. You do know I'm just messin' with ya', right?? |
Yup. Just look at the post date from my original post on this thread. June 18th. |
I won't know my exact schedule until August, but as it currently stands I don't have to teach until 10:40 AM on the 13th. You're only a little over an hour from me, right? I'd be cutting through Starke up to I-10. I'll talk to Dave N. (dent students don't need sleep)and another friend to see if they're interested and get back to you. I'll be there if I can!
Edited to add--Hey 1shott, I know all about your little check, buy a plane ticket you cheap bastard! |
