South Bend was pretty dumpy with decaying buildings left over from a defunct auto and mfg industry that just went away and left behind the " unskilled " labor and derelict buildings. South Bend is nowhere near " Gary" , though there is a 16 block area on the west side that continues to be a shit hole no matter what. But again any city of any size is going to have shit places. However , it is a city that has been run by Dems for generations and is massively corrupt and bloated. Cities outside South Bend are very nice and many are smaller farming type communities that reject SB.
Shitty things that SB has the old butt plug never helped fix or made worse: Community police relations Drug and gang activity - SB is a major hub for drugs and other things coming through to Chicago , Grand Rapids , Detroit , and down to Indy. Taxes - too high School system that grades F Attracting new industry Things the Old D BAG did: Put lights on a bridge Was gay - how brave he was Changed directions of streets Ya thats about it. What a loser. |
