As I said in another thread, I think this is way cool--brings the boomer "man into space/Star Trek" story arc full circle.  The 1960's were the big push for putting a man on the moon.  The original Star Trek helped the public perception of space travel as "our future."  The series also inspired legions of people to go into the sciences that made further space travel possible.  I don't want to make a bigger deal of it than it is, but I'm glad I lived to see this day.

IT's fitting.

Space: the final frontier. This is the voyage of the starship Penisprise. Its mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

The rocket bears an uncomfortable resemblance to the spaceship in the 1970's porn movie "Flesh Gordon."  I say it's no accident.

He's fucking 90. At most, he loses a couple years of life for the chance to do something so few can dream of.  Why not?
He's taking way less of a gamble than the rest of the crew.

Kirk is 90 years old, could it be he plans on kicking the bucket while in space?
If so its going to go down as the greatest Epic Baller move! of all time.

that is a surprisingly small rocket, since it only has to move a few people and not cargo, too.

pretty sure that since they're not doing an orbital insertion, the "window" is however long the dayshift is on the clock.
