For me it was out in the middle of nowhere in the Joshua Tree National Monument-Park, when I was getting schooled at 29 Palms.

Somewhere in the Gunnison national forest in Colorado.  They say wolves are extinct there but from what I heard that night they aren't.  And yes I know what a coyote sounds like.

Probably the backcountry in Canyonlands National Park along Salt Creek.. heck it was thirty miles of dirt road just to get to the trailhead where we had a guy drop us off.  I felt more remote in there than I ever have in the Sierra Nevada's.

There are some places in AK and Canada I want to visit that will put that to shame, and I know some other countries are just pure remote as they exist.

Island In The Sky District, Canyonlands NP.

A couple days backpacking and camping out yonder.  Yes, quite a few years ago.  It wasn't nearly as popular as it is today.

Went to The Ocala National Forrest one night after work.  We had a tent some food and basic gear.  Once we got in the National Forrest proper, we turned on a dirt road, then another and another.  We didn’t have a destination.  Once we felt we were good and deep in the woods we pulled off and made camp.  I slept outside by the fire.  It was the best time I had camping.  This was a long time ago, I had my Ruger P95 with two ten round magazines, (Thanks Bill Clinton for that one).  We spent the next day running trails in my buddies 4x4 S10 Blazer until we got to Alexander Springs.  Four of us went, only two of us are left.  We should of done a tontine with the bottle of (whatever we were drinking at the time).

Saline Valley at the Upper Springs, DVNP, 1987, 1988 and 2008.  I wonder if that old guy is still camping at the Lower Springs.  I met him in the late 80's and again in 2008; we even recognized each other, which was weird as shit.

Cool thread. Just some remote-ish wilderness in MT and WY for me. But I'm here for the responses. Couple of places I'd love to go... Shaksgam Valley north of K2, Namibian Desert, and Altiplano to name a few. The latter two on my adventure motorcycle. Between the covid plague and 7 spinal surgeries... none of them are ever likely to happen. But hey... there's always YouTube!

Brooks Range? Neacola Range? Chigmit Range? Aleutian Range?

I’ve been pretty dang remote in AK…  Never seen another person on these extended backcountry trips.

Backpacked down overnight on San Jose island, TX. That's a privately owned barrier island that is only accessible ( for non invited visitors)by boat and only legal if staying below the high tide mark. Not that remote but if anything happens the only help that MIGHT come is if you can get a signal out to the coast guard.

If you go, hump in PLENTY of water, and don't test the private security, they have a rep similar to the Kings Ranch boys.

Me and my sled dogs camped somewhere between the MN boundary waters and Canada.

It was a bit remote.

At least it wasn't cold.

On some lake in northern Canada for a hunt.

So we got on a float plane and started heading out further into the lake to get ready for take off.  Just before we took off the pilot said if we crash odds it will be into water. If we go down in water we may only have moments before the plane sinks so someone has to pull the emergency satellite beacon at the back of the plane. We all turned to look for it but couldn't see it. Someone asked the pilot exactly where it was and he said behind all of the hunting gear. The gear was piled to the ceiling.

As we were landing at our lake the pilot said if you look off to your left you can see the what is left of a plane that crashed while landing, there were no survivors.

Northern Saskatchewan.
Drove to LaRonge, flew up to some small lakes.
Paddled around. Spent a couple nights.

Been in the most remote parts of ID, MT, and WA a bunch. Whiles technically remote, you're never that far from a well traveled road in the lower 48.

Not remote enough.

Seems like no matter where we go we always have to deal with others.

I can think of one spot over ten years ago where we never saw anyone else. Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
