Grilled four steaks. Served two. Forgot I left two, covered in alum foil, sitting in the oven to rest.

They have rested at 71 degrees for 24 hours.

Heat and eat or make them dog food?

I'd give them a try.

As bad as I hate to say it, chunk them.

And I’m normally one to push things

1) Why would you do that?

2) It's dead, Jim.

I’d eat them.

What’s the worst that could happen

That's why I have a 160 lb dog.

Eat one and wait a few hours, if nothing happens eat the other one...

Can't get ill if you cook it well done. Just sayin'.

Eat.

Last time I left a steak out I sliced it and pan fried until a bit crisp and had it with eggs and home fries.

They’re fine. Anyone ever heard of Biltong?

stayed at a friend’s house once. wife made prime rib and left it out over night and put it back in the frig.

the next night she made us all a sammich from it. next morning i hit road to head home.

worst food poisoning i’ve ever had and driving on a road trip!

Slice them up like fajitas, warm on skillet, then feed to dogs.

In aluminum like that is prime bacteria environment and being sick for a day out of work is more costly than a couple steaks.

Depends on temperature they say in . I would at least try them .

Thought about this.

But even if I kill any bacteria, aren’t there like, bacteria turds, left in there?
Link Posted: 9/14/2021 8:24:36 PM EDT

Ain't worth risking food poisoning.
Link Posted: 9/14/2021 8:24:42 PM EDT

Cooked food left out uncovered at room temperature for more than a couple hours tops will have bacteria on it. The waste product from that bacteria is what makes you get food poisoning. No amount of reheating will make that bacteria waste safe to eat again. Keep it hot or put it in the fridge within an hour after cooking to avoid food poisoning.

I have heard 3 hours out after cooking is the limit. After that it is iffy.....

Ever have food poisoning?

For me it’s a HARD no and I hate wasting food.

Barfing and pissing out your ass isn’t anywhere near worth the risk.

Keep us posted!!

I wouldn't give it to my dogs either. I wouldn't ever do that and then expect my wife to clean up the results.

Meh. Cook them in a pan until well done and serve with ketchup. Just ask Thorazine. Oh, wait...

Toss in garbage. 24hrs is far too long for safe human or dog consumption.

Smell it. You're equipped to detect these things.

If it smells fine maybe flash cook the outsides and go for it

It all depends on if you like to projectile vomit.

Drink some Kentucky Deluxe and then eat the steaks. You're good to go.

Eat.  No issues.

Wash it like a piece of fruit if you are worried about surface bacteria, slice it up, and pan fry it in bacon grease from the open container on the shelf. When it gets a nice crust wrap it with your favorite type of bread and eat it.

Edit to add: it's just quick cured beef jerky at this point.

Probably no different than what you're getting in your Carne Burrito at your local Mexican Restaurant.  Except it's only been 1 day.

I’d give them to the dog but I’m overly cautious when it comes to food safety. One bad experience is all it takes.

Watched a food show on the telly.  Dude was in Marrakesh eating sheep that was prepared by keeping the meat in the alley for 6 days.  I'd toss it myself.

Eat it.  Back in the day I’d get a half sheet of Sicilian pie with sausage, pepperoni and meat balls and let it sit on the stove. I’d eat it over several days.  Never got sick.

Toss.

Don't take the risk right now. Healthcare is in fucking shambles in this country right now.

And not because covid. Covid is an easy out for the Healthcare issues this country is experiencing.

I've eaten pork chops left out that long. My grandmother used to put left over meat, beans, and potatos in a cupboard to store. I will leave baked potatos out for the next day. Eat them steaks and build up your immune system!

I can’t imagine how the tender tummy crews heads would explode if they saw a side of beef with green fuzz all over it. “Omgeeeee throw it out!!!”

I've had food poisoning twice.  It is not fun.

Toss that shit out.

I used to risk it but I wouldn't eat just because I'm not rolling the dice on food poisoning over a couple steaks.

You can make a small stew or beef soup and cook the shit out of them if you don't want to waist meat.

you are such a pansy that you get food poisoning from a day old steak and need to go to the hospital for it?

I don't fuck around with potential food poisoning. A few steaks aren't worth it.

But you do you....
