This is the first time that I have posted anything on this sight, but most of you seem to be very well educated on firearms and perticurally ar-15.  I have two questions that I hope someone may be able to answer.
1.  About two years ago I purchased a Colt match hbar model r6601 from a local dealer.  The rifle came with three 20 round magazines.  Two of them were blocked so that they would only accept 5 rounds.  The dealer said that he would take $800 (which included tax)for the rifle.  Since the gun appeared to be pre-ban to me (had flash supressor but no bayonet lug)I told him I would take it.  He then told me that he could only sell the gun to a LEO since it was a LEO only rifle package from colt.  This didn't make any sence to me since the rifle nor any of the magazines had "law enforcemnt only" stamped on them.  I got a letter from my chief stating that I was a LEO.  Afrer I got the gun and was looking at it at home I noticed that the plastic bag that the gun was in had EDCO AUG 94 stamped on it and the box had a bar code on it from colt that said CXR6601 and 09/08/94 on it.  Do you think that this rifle is pre-ban or not?  A friend of mine who isn't in LE has one that he bought at walmart before the ban that looks exactly like my rifle.
2. My other question is, A while back I was at a gun show and purchased two magazines. One was a 20 round and the other was a 30 round.  Both are black and have nothing written on them except "CQ".  Who made these magazines and are they good or a pice of crap?  I only gave $20 or $30 for both and they seem to be well made.

the requirment for the gun to be marked for LEO or military use only came about sometime in 95 or 96. so just because it does not say that on it does not put you in the clear. Call Colt to be sure.
