I'm not saying drunk but a couple of drinks in you. For me it's shooting pool.

Alienating friends and ruining my marriage.
Sober since October. But yeah, in my youth, it was pool and bowling. |

Riding dirt bikes. Takes the edge off after a beer or two
Sporting clays gets easier |

Definitely pool. But there is a point where I can't go over or I start going down hill.

Shooting pool as well.
Drive better too- only time I'll do the speed limit. |

Judging from reading inumerable Arfcom threads, I'd have to say that most people get much more proficient at shitposting incoherent blather and spending money like there's no tomorrow on crazy shit online.
Me, l get creative at throwing a mess of stuff together in the kitchen that I wouldn't touch under normal circumstances. "Oh, pizza sounds great, but what it REALLY needs is spaghetti and meatballs poured over it and topped with salsa and sour cream...sucks that we don't have any sauerkraut" kind of thing. |

Welding. I stop putting so much effort in and wind up with much better welds.

Amazing how accurate XKCD is. It definitely translates to most videogames, chess, and most bar games for me. In my experience, starts with a relatively flat line from 0 to ~.1, jumps way up to the peak and has a slight decline over a number of drinks before a sharp dropoff once you start feeling the full effects. Increased confidence due to loss of inhibitions (sometimes good, sometimes bad), increased focus since you know you are "intoxicated," and more consistent motor control once you find your rhythm (obviously when you do make a mistake it will sometimes be bigger than normal). |

I've read that a small amount of alcohol increases performance. I read here, I think, some PRS guys would do a shot 15/20 mins before their stage. Gets rid of the jitters. Also train how you fight. What happens when you get home invaded at midnight on a saturday after your 12 pack of quadruple IPAs and you are larping in full kit with NODs?

Yep it’s for real. Whenever I’d get stumped writing some code I found a decent buzz would help me figure it out. Probably because I was overthinking the problem and making it more difficult than it actually was. |
