I usually just back off and either they split up or come back down to the real world soon after and their friends exist again. ETA: All of us are married now so we definitely do stuff together. But yeah back in the day it happened. |

Enjoy hobbies while you are single. Once you have kids, they will sit in a box and go obsolete for 15 years until the kids are teenagers and don't want to have anything to do with you. then you can dig them out of storage, realize they are way outdated, throw them away and buy new ones to restart your hobbies, whatever they are.  |

Nothing recent but 10th grade a good friend got himself a GF and really was the last I spoke to him. He wasn't with her long but after that he got into drugs and shit. He ODed last year. Didn't effect me much, hadn't seen him in 15 years.

I've had plenty of friends that may not exactly turn into jerks, but they act and talk completely different to their wives/girlfriends. As in, they aren't even like the same person. Even after many years of marriage, it's like they have a split personality.

Yes.
Had a buddy that I fished with, hunted with, went shooting with, rode ATVs with, reloaded with, etc., etc., etc. He got married and that was the end of all that stuff. Thought it was me till I talked to his brother and found out he no longer went hunting/camping/fishing with is family either. He didn't quit those activities. He just started doing everything with his wife's family. Haven't talked to that guy in 35 years or more. I used to run into his brother at the grocery store or gas station now and then, but haven't seen him for a few years either. |

I had a friend who turned into a prick just for thinking he had a girlfriend. He was a sixty-something incel who mistook a girl's friendship for interest. He canceled activities that we had planned and did them with her. She finally told him she had a boyfriend and he was just a friend. Dude was nearly suicidal over it.
I tried to remain friends with him for a while, but I slowly had less and less to do with him because of other "questionable" behaviors and I no longer even take calls from him. Fuck that dude. |

Yep. An old buddy of mine swears he dominates women but is a fucking slave to them, and they all look like his mother.
I have personally sat and watched him give free drinks to the guy that was fucking his girlfriend while he was withholding dick to show her who's boss. Definitely hos before bros, but I figure as long as I know it and it doesn't do anything but entertain me, I could not care less. He finally got married in his early 50's to a Tinder date, that looks like his mother and had insurance and a steady job. She's cool and I wish them luck. |

After I found out that their woman would not let them hang with me because I was a bad influence I decided that I would make their woman hate me even more when I would dump them in the front yard hammered.
Now as every friend fooled his woman into thinking they had control I would get them hammered and show them that their man was not to be controlled, that they were taking the lion out of his soul. Of the group of 7 I am the only one that has not been divorced and married for 42 years. What is funny is that I told my wife that she is only temporary not to get to comfortable. She tells me that one day the house, farm will be empty when I get home from hunting. Maybe I am lucky, but when I want to see my life long friends all I have to do is call. I think that maybe pop taught me something good after all. If your friend can cut you loose over a woman then he was not your friend at all. There is a balance only women do not like to loosen their grip. And their are great Women out there. |
