Met up with an old friend at a bar inside the Indian casino near me.
They are adding a "temporary" $2 per beverage "worker premium". There's a little sign at all the tables that says "blah blah nobody wants to work, the proceeds of the $2 premium go back to the workers (kinda doubt it). The place already pays $12/hour + tips (state law that you must pay minimum wage and let them keep all their tips) and they're giving employees a $5/hour kicker until September. We just had a couple drinks, so it wasn't a big deal. But no, I definitely didn't tip somebody already making $17 to give me my drink. |

Quoted: Your username is appropriate. I would have left, myself. View Quote Yeah, if we were going to "tie one on" and drink all night, we would have found a local dive bar or something. He was only in town passing through, so we just had a couple just to shoot the shit for a while. Not having to drive across town to another bar is certainly worth the $8. |

I hear Myrtle Beach has a worker shortage that restaurants are closed randomly, just depending on where staff shows up on any given day.
Unemployment pays $15ish/hr, why work hard for $18/hr? Kharn |

To be fair…if you’re paying for drinks out on the town…$2/drink isn’t something that should bother you. If you want to be cheap go to the liquor store.

Every skill less job is hiring right now. I have no sympathy for the people standing on street corners begging when there are 40 businesses in town that would pay them $15/hr all day long.

It’s nice that you mention “state law” yet don’t list your state.

Sounds like they took tipping out of the equation for me.
Also encourages higher dollar drinks if it's a flat $2 for anything ordered. Hmmm, the bar owner in me has some wheels turning.... |

Notice that the $5 premium is being paid until September. Couldn’t have anything to do with the $300 per week Biden bucks that is scheduled to end in September? Pure coincidence. Right?
It is hard for business to compete with the free taxpayer money being printed by Biden and the far left. |

Quoted: Who works for $17/hr? View Quote My wife worked there as a bartender years ago. She was paid $9.50 + tips back then, and she would clear $60k / year, even more if she was working swings shift on the weekends. I sort of wonder if they will actually make less as people start tipping less and less. |

I don't even think they are trying to hide that fact. They're giving an additional $1000 bonus to employees that work from March - September. So if you started before March 30 and stay until September 31, you get a $1000 bonus. |

What was the price before the $2 per drink Biden tax? If it doubled the drink price of cheap beer, I would have trotted out of there like the horse lady. On the other hand, for good scotch, a $2 hike is easier to swallow. Although, in either case, one of the great lessons of the quarantine is how much cheaper and more pleasant it is to buy drinks at the grocery or liquor store and drink with friends in somebody's back yard.

Quoted: Other than maybe Vegas where do you get a drink for $4.50? A damn beer is at least $6.00 here usually $8.00+ View Quote On Fremont or The Strip, drinks are over typically closer to $7 for well / bottom shelf (at least as of when I was there in 2019). Of course, most casinos will give you free drinks if you're playing a machine/table games. Places off the strip might be a bit cheaper, though. |

(Amazing right) We sell well liquor at $3.50, calls start at $4. The highest we carry is $21. Draft beer ranges from $4 a pint to $7.50 a tulip right now |

You haven’t seen shit for shortage of employees and wage increases.

San Francisco just added a 10% premium on all dine in food orders. I don’t go to San Francisco. If I did my tip would be very light. But if I were you I’d drink in the parking lot. Fuck em now they get nothing.

Plus tax. $10/drink is going to greatly curtail my drinking at any particular location. Cheap/poor/whatever you want to call me.

Sweet. Another thread to dollar cost average the others that are worth $24 by themselves.
