Sacramento County sheriff's detectives are seeking information about Sunday night's fatal shooting of 16-year-old Ger Her in south Sacramento, authorities said.
"We believe Her may have been trying to steal a car in the neighborhood and was shot during the attempt," said Sgt. Craig Hill of the department's homicide division.
Deputies found Her lying dead in the street at 44th Avenue and Sampson Boulevard at about 10:30 p.m. He had a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
Her had left his home a few blocks away about 10 minutes earlier, said Hill, who added that he believes that someone must have seen Her before the shooting.
He is described as about 5-feet-7 and 155 pounds. He was wearing black nylon wind pants with a white stripe down the side, a gray zippered hooded sweatshirt, white tank top T-shirt, and Nike thong sandals. He also had a scar on his forehead.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Department at (916) 874-5115.
