Very true Shotar. Why do many Jewish folks cling to the democratic party? Nostalgia?

Mostly I think its tradition. In the early 20th century Jews were probably still considered an ethnic group in this country and lived mainly in large cities. Higher education was still largely discriminatory and it was the more liberal leaning schools that admitted Jews. Jews therefore were educated more liberally. Now, on the political side, being urban dwellers and often new immigrants were sweatshop workers, they identified with the Dems. This is however changing. Jews are really no longer considered an ethnic demographic, theres no response for it on the census. As far as the government and the dems are concerned Jews are just whites. No special meaning at all. In fact given a couple centuries of hard work and financial and industrial success it is Jews who make up the largest influx to the Republican party as the Republicans are likely the party that best represents their interests, values and beliefs. Unfortunately it will take that generation of transition to die off before the new Reaganite Jews are in the majority of that demographic but it is happening.
While stumping for the last election, a young Jewsish man came to my door and asked for my vote. He was the Republican challenger. Also a Captain in the USMCR and finishing his law degree at Case Western Reserve. I voted for him and he won the election. I note this as our area is heavily Jewish and our county is one of the few blue counties on the election map in Ohio. Things are changing for the better, it just takes time.
