It’s not entirely a brag thread, because I didn’t do the wood work myself. I wish I could do this, and I know some of you do, which I applaud.
I had a few slabs of black walnut I was going to make a dining table out of, but I didn’t dry them right, they warped, and I gave them to a friend who made me this. End grain board, wife thinks it’s too big, I think it’s perfect. Had him build it to dim so it fits in our sink.

I really need to listen to people and sell the ones I make out of offcuts and scrap.

Looks nice OP, kitchen looks more nice.

I don't think a cutting board can be too big, that just means the kitchen is too small.

That’s beautiful, but probably weighty for women and children. How the hell does that fit in the sink? Like as a plug for the countertop.
I like it though.

2. Fantastic counter choice.
3. The rest of the house looks amazing too.

Beautiful.  Only thing that comes to mind to me would be a juice trough (don't know what that's actually called in cutting board terms) leading into a hole so you can scrape scraps off into the sink if necessary.

End grain, those must have been some huge logs! Last walnut I cut was pretty big and as soon as the saw started up multiple guys showed up wondering what was going to happen to it once it was on the ground. (Just looked again, I see the cuts and bonding, excellent work).
That is a beautiful cutting board, I would have a hard time actually using it. Not to mention that I'm sure one of our boys would put it in the dishwasher.
OP. Your cabinets look exactly like ones my wife and I had and maybe its the light but the finish started to come off of ours and it looked just like that. We called the manufacture and they replace all the doors and drawers no charge.

Since there’s “cutting boards” the size of that island, you’re right.

My Grandpa gave it to me before he passed, I really don’t know much about it. I only own 2 wheel guns, that 32WSF Colt, and a 357 Dan Wesson, which he also gave me.

These were a custom knotty alder, and stained. That drawer is our garbage, so used a ton!
And also used for scraping the cutting board scraps easily into the garbage

My wood working buddy asked if I wanted a juice groove, I said no.
Our other boards didn’t have them, and since it’s right next to the sink I just swiped everything into the sink or garbage.

My biggest cutting board has a groove around the perimeter on one side but not the other, so you can flip it over depending on whether you want the groove or not.

@blacktaco maybe I’m missing something, but how do you get it back out of the sink once it’s in? I read that as the board fits the cutout in your counter for the under mount sink, is it is small enough one length or width wise so that you can get fingers under it and lift it?

@Johnnyb01

Like this, so fits width wise. Not sure I’ll ever need to, but just in case to spray off. I’m thinking it will just always be wiped down. Attachment Attached File

It is beveled underneath so you can lift it easily. And has adjustable feet.

The daughter made the first cut tonight while I wasn’t looking. I was startled LOL - family made fun of me for checking the board to make sure it was okay. Board performed flawlessly

@DieselEngineer
@FuriousYachtsman

I just realized BenchMade is in my backyard, and my Grandpa who gave me the gun used to live in Vanport during the war (same general area as Les).
How is my Colt pistol hacked up?

ETA - never mind, Les was cutting up guns because he didn’t like guns. That’s why we don’t support BenchMade around here lol.

Beautiful board! I've made a few myself. Not extremely hard to do, but very time consuming with the glue ups. Looks like you have a cutting board for life with that one!

I’m trying to justify the size okay!!

Overhead view, it doesn’t take up that much useable counter space. I like to prep, there will be no siding with my wife!!!!
