Guns bad, guns and women really bad:
A controversial fundraising poster featuring eight provocatively clad, gun-slinging female police officers is drawing fire.
The poster, with the caption "Girls with Guns Target Breast Cancer," is a fundraiser for breast cancer research but that message is lost, detractors say, in images of sexy, heavily armed officers.

"There they are sporting guns as if it's a fun thing to do," said Dawn Reynolds, a family therapist in Guelph who is offended by the poster.

"Guns are what kill women. They are not a good thing. I regret hugely that this was done, especially for such a worthy cause as breast cancer."

Actually, I'm sure I could find fifty stories (going back through history) of women using guns to defend themselves and their families for every story of a woman killed by a gun. Using the "logic" of the gun haters, even if the ratio was reversed we should preserve gun freedom for the one woman who might need to defend herself.

A woman killed by a man with a gun is a tragedy. Often, women in such situations are aware they are at risk because the killer is usually known to them. How many of these women's lives could be saved if it was possible for them to arm themselves quickly and easily. Gun laws discriminate against women who may need to defend themselves in a hurry.

Being a "liberated woman" means liberation from violence and the fear of violence from the angry man in your life. A family therapist and 911 are too little, way too late: you need to level the playing field.
