"Here's some info you can't share with  ***** ****  will probably get freaked out.

The last time we came back to Anaconda from *******  we were escorted by 3 uparmored humvees with MPs in them.  They didn't know the route and this one guy couldn't figure out how to load the MK19 properly.  We were travelling down this one road which is where all those fuel trucks were burning on the news around ******.

We see one burning fuel truck on the other side of the road, and just as we are passing it and IED blows up from the median towards the drivers side of the KBR truck.  **** was in truck 3 and I was in truck 6.  The IED hit between 1 and 2.  I put my M4 out the window clicked onto burst and aimed at a few iraqi's that were near the burning fuel truck on the other side of the road.  One round went off, and the casing got stuck in the ejection port.

At this time we are driving about 20 mph and I clear my malfunction, place it back on burst and just point my rifle into an opening between buildings (when an IED goes off we are allowed to empty magazines to keep anybody away from the convoy) fired and one more round goes downrange.

We then entered an exit ramp where we left the 2nd truck completely, merged onto a new road, stopped and dropped the first fuel tanker but kept the cab.  The first tanker had severe shrapnel in the tank and was gushing JP8 the whole time.

Then almost back to Anaconda a guy was throwing rocks at our convoy (again we are allowed to fire over their heads or near them if small rocks, kill them if the rock will endanger our lives).  **** calls me and tells me where he is, I see him pick up a huge rock, put my red-dot on his body, switch to semi, and see a few small girls behind him so I elect not to kill him because if I missed I really didn't want that on my conscience."

I don't know about M4's, but when we fire burst with A2's, they jam a lot.  I had one jam so bad we had to take a Leatherman and work on getting the round out.  PITA.  I pretty much only shoot on semi with an A2.  Rarely had that problem with our A1's.

I had that prob with my M-4 in Kuwait, before we went north.  apparrently the ejector had gotten some dirt behind it, I pulled it, lubed it and was back in business.

I think he needs to check that, (or get his armorer to since its not 10 level stuff) and make sure the weapon is nice and clean.  clean it twice a day, keep a mag in it and the dust cover closed with a muzzle cap.  my M-4 functioned even during those huge assed sand storms when it would choke my M-2 .50 cal up.

Doesn't surprise me about the MP's, not the brightest tools in the Army!!!  Nearly blew up a few dumbass MP's who failed to monitor their radio's and ask Range Control about HOT areas.  SOB's ran withing 500 meters of a 2 ton shot, Dumbasses got rocked!!!!

If the ejection is close enough to something like a wall, barrel, or other obstruction, it is possible that ejected rounds will bounce back into the ejection port and cause a jam.

Up armored? By up armored you mean only the turret/gunner has armor, while the rest of the vehicle is unarmored?

Would be nice to read more stories from iraq....
