I ask this question because as of 2 hours ago, I got my CDL-B license. I'm 22, and got it because I want to drive my dept.'s fire apparatus. I got my regular license when I was 16.
So, any of you have any special licenses or endorsements? |

Can I have that hotdog? I used to have a commercial chaffeur's license here in Oklahoma. That entitled me to drive anything with wheels. School buses, dump trucks, big rigs, etc. Then when everything came under the purview of the Feds, I received a nastygram from the state instructing me to get qualified for a CDL and retest, or turn in my CC for a regular operator's permit. But wait, there's more!!! So I go to the DPS and turn in my CC for an operator's permit and I'm told that the state started issuing motorcycle endorsements (there didn't used to be any separate motorcycle requirements, one license covered everything). So this DPS employee starts asking me, "Do you want a motorcylce endorsement?" "No, I don't own a motorcycle." "It doesn't cost anything." "But I don't own a motorcycle." "Well, you might someday." "I'll cross that bridge when I get there." "Here, I'll just add the endorsement. There's no testing required or additional fees." "But I don't own or ride a motorcycle." "I went ahead and added it." Fourteen years later and I still don't own a motorcycle. I hate getting stopped by cops. "What kind of bike do you have?" "I don't have one." "But you have a motorcycle endorsement. How'd you get that if you don't have a bike?" Incidentally, the state now tests drivers before granting motorcycle endorsements. |

My favorite: Driver's license, Washington State, issued in 1994...and still good.
Valid until 90 days after discharge.....military ID says "indefinite" in the expiration block...therefore drivers license doesn't expire. I can't count the number of Walmart cashiers I have stumped with this combo. "But the register is asking for an expiration date!!" |

TX Drivers License
TX Concealed Handgun License NASD Series 7 General Securities License (Allows me to transact stocks, bonds, mutual funds, variable contracts, and options contracts business) Series 24 General Securities Princicipals License (Allow me to supervise securities transaction for NASD member firms) Series 53 Municipal Securities License (Allows me to supervise Municipal Bonds transactions for MSRB member firms) Series 63 State Securities License (State registration to transact securities business) TX Group 1 Life and Health General Agents License (Allows me to transact life and health insurance business, as well as fixed and variable contracts in the state of TX) CA L&D License (Similar to TX group only for state of CA) TX Loan Officers license (Allows me to transact mortgage loan business in TX) Latter 2 licenses are fairly new. Just had em since last Nov. Loan Officers license is altogether new for TX. For some reason, the state decided they needed more money. So in order to transact loan business they now require you to have one. Its a dumb exam, any monkey can pass it. No worries, bank I used to work for paid for it. That enough licenses for ya!!!\ OOOOPPPPSSSS Forgot!!! Got a C&R FFL License also. |

I was conducting random vehicle inspections as a Security Policeman (Seymour Johnson AFB, NC) once when the driver of a vehicle I was inspecting presented his Georgia driver's license, which had been expired for fifteen years. When I informed him that his license wasn't valid, he told me that Georgia had a "Military Exemption" which allowed him to drive on his expired license until he separated from the military. I told him that Georgia did not have such a provision, but did allow for renewal by mail. He asked, "How do you know that", at which point I showed him my Georgia driver's license. He was pretty nonplussed when he realized he had been driving on an expired license for fifteen years. |
