I agree with all of them but The Who. I've liked them since I was a little kid.

Can't really disagree with any of these.  Rush is absolutely ruined by Getty Lee (?).

Rush's Moving Pictures was a great album, how can you not like Tom Sawyer?  Plus they are about the only Randian Objectivist lyrics out there.  Of course everything they've done in the last twenty years has sucked ass.

HATE the Greatful Dead.

Can't stand a single Bruce Springstien song.

Hell, most every band of the seventies sucked except Black Sabbath.

Hate anything John Lennon post Beatles

HATE Dave Mathews Band

and for the fifth, Dire Straights.  Never understood what the hell their attraction was.

I like 4 out of those 5 bands. I like Steely Dan the most, Rush the least.

I dont get what people like about them so much, I don't like anything they've done.

Fascists!  Rush rocks!  And the Who is one of the best bands ever!

But I will agree that steely dan blows hard, along with the greatful dead, the eagles and bon-mutherfucking-jovi...

Zeppelin, sorry guys, but I guess I just don't get it

Aerosmith

Rush

The Beatles

I really don't get Van Halen at all, or how anyone could like them.

I pretty much like all those mentioned, certainly the first five.

People have different tastes, and it changes over time!

Rush, without a doubt. Gives me headaches when the songs intro on the radio.

Greatful Dead, too damned folksy.

Bob Dylan, grates on my ears after a while.

I'm sure there are others, but I've made an effort not to listen to them in the past 40 years.

Pink Floyd:....maybe it helps if you're stoned, I don't know?  Could never see what all the fuss was about.

Bruce Springsteen: I agree with Ratters.....it sets my teeth on edge whenever a song of his comes on the radio, which seems to be ALL THE TIME on the local classic rock station

Bob Seger!!!  JHFC! I hate Bob Seger! DIE MF!! DIE! DIE!

KISS:  brain dead metal at it's worst.

Van Halen:   Back in the day with David Lee Roth as frontman they were semi tolerable.  Never bought any of the albums but wouldn't make the mad dash to change the radio station like I do when Van Hagar comes on.

Springsteen - Been hating his "music" for about 30 years now
Greenday - pure unadulterated crap
Grateful Dead - I for one AM grateful
Bob Segar - again, crap
U2 - please, just die already!

And FWIW - Rush was great in the old days, but anything after about 1986 sucks.

Why do they exist?
How have they sold even a single album?
Why would you choose a lead singer that sounds like a farm animal being castrated?
Why weren't they quarantined in Canada before they had a chance to damage the rest of the world?

P.S.: I would like to apologize to the AR15 Community for letting my anger over a grossly overrated band overcome me. I realize that outbursts of emotion are unseemly... but COME ON! Nobody would ever really take them seriously as a group, right? Right?

It isn't about the vocals...  If it was, the Kinks, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Tom Petty, etc. would have never sold an album?

Rush is overrated?  They get hardly any radio play, and when they do, it is the same 2 or 3 songs.

The only thing they have going against them is that they are cannucks.

Rush rocks!

I agree Rush sucks. Peart is an awesome drummer but the band plays musician's music.

1. Metallica. Can't stand em. Way Overrated.
2. Lynard Skynard. Give me three steps to the garbage can.
3. The Doors. That squealy organ sound from Manszerack and Morrison's drug laden sloppy vocals -- Garbage.
4. System of a Down. Awful. Simply awful.
5.  Black Sabbath.

Um....We only get to choose 5?!

Can't do it. There are so many shitty bands out there these days that are apparently popular (God knows why!) that I couldn't possibly narrow it down to five and be fair about it.

You do have a good start though. I don't like any of the five you mentioned. Respect some of the stuff they did, but still don't like them.

I'm not real partial to
Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Cream
Jimi Hendrix
Janis Joplin (I hate that bitch)
Aerosmith
Van Halen
Black Sabbath (and let's be honest...I don't like much Heavy Metal...I hardly even consider it to be music and worthy of this topic.  Rap and Hi Hop don't rate either.)

And a few others.  It's not that I cannot find a song or two from each that I actually like, any band can squeeze out a good song every now and then, just that the VAST majority of their output does not appeal to me.

Yes - I cannot F#$%ing stand the Lead singers voice, he needs to get the vice grips off his nuts!!!
Greatful Dead - Can't Stand them!
Nirvana - SUCK!!!!  Much rather listen to Soundgarden or Alice-n-Chains!!!
Pearl Jam
Steve Miller
Boston - Clear Channel loves these Motherf#$%ers, hands down the most overplayed band of all time!

The problem with music from bands like Rush and Pink Floyd is that Corporate music from Clear Channel plays only certain songs from them to DEATH!!!!  For Example, Tom Sawyer by Rush, I cannot stand that song anymore from overplay, I have YET to HEAR 2112 played on the radio!!!

I have to say I really like Yes and Pink Floyd, but I really have to be in the right mood.

I'm not generally a fan of Jethro Tull.  I really like "Songs from the Wood" though.  It's almost a pure Ian Anderson record though.  Mostly worked up English and Scottish folk tunes.

I recognize the work of a lot of the bands mentioned (except for the metalheads), but I just don't like it.

Grateful Dead....I just don't get them at all.    When I first heard the band's name, I sort of expected acid rock/heavy metal, but hoo boy, was I ever surprised!

Boston...odd that I should dislike them, as they're a guitar oriented band, and I'm guitar oriented as well. (I build custom made guitars)

Journey.   None for me, thanks.  I'll stay home.

All grunge, "Seattle sound" stuff sucks.

And though I don't HATE Led Zeppelin,  I've never been able to get into it at all.

Steely Dan is great,  what are you talking about?    It doesn't really fit in the rock genre, if that helps.

Beatles:   Love 'em.   But mostly it's their early work,  pre-'66,  that I like best, back when they still had their distinctively Liverpool sound happening.   The close harmonies and simple structures work for me.

My tastes vary wildly.   Anything from Steely Dan to Rammstein.

Grateful Dead<--/

Bruce Springsteen - can't get the radio changed fast enough - whine, whine
John Cougar Mellencamp (or whatever he's calling himself these days) - another "can't change fast enough" candidate

I guess i truly have nothing in common with you guys except for a love of firearms and a warped sense of humor. Most of the bands you guys listed are really good. Rush, Beatles, Who, Van Halen... Now, peter frampton can die at any moment and i couldn't be happier.

Most modern day music would go into the list. It's all cry-grunge or cRap.
